I'm planning on the RMR Crit Series starting 3/8 as a beginner cat 5. Anyone else doing this or other crits, road races or TTs? What team(s) do you ride with?

Cheers.

Crits aren't my thing but I was thinking about trying the one in Ogden when it starts back up. Got a buddy on the Bountiful-Mazda team as a cat5 who will be doing it.

I've done a couple. I'm kind of thinking of joining Porcupine Cycling. The usually have a big showing at those and they meet up close to where I live.

I started going to them this last year and ended up in a huge crash in my first race (first corner, 1st race lap), it kind of scared me away from them for a while. I did some more and learned that I hadn't been training nearly hard enough to race.

I like it when they have the course inside the little track oval, but when they loop around the outside there's some tight corners and i'm not aggressive enough on them.

This year I hope to do the Salt Aire TT, and the DMV crit

I might like to watch.:p

If I could compete against some old people that didn't know they were in a race, and I could...oh wait, those are my group rides.

Yeah, I like doing centuries and pretending that they are races. :D

I'll admit that the racing bug teases me sometimes but I don't know. I'm old, I should have gotten into this 20 years ago, then it would have been fun...

I'd be more inclined to try a road race than a crit.

C'mon, it might still be fun, even in your declining years. ;)

Present. The overly verbose (some would say enthusiastic) report is here. (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=395540) Short version: My first race, 3/8 mile laps on the oval (not the regular track), started badly, couldn't catch the lead group, got lapped halfway into the race, hung with the lead group the rest of the race, finished just behind the group but a lap down, had a great time.

Was anyone else there? You, vantassell?
