Classic & Vintage - Newbie Needs Help - Motobecane Grand Touring

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Can anyone help me date this bike and let me know if I paid too much? I just bought a champagne colored Motobecane Grand Touring that has a sticker on the downpost saying Vitus 172. It has Suntour power shifters on the downtube, a Suntour V-GT Luxe Derailleur, a Tourney crank, and Weinmann 610 Vainoueur 999 front and back brakes. I paid $110 today. Thanks.
I believe Vitus and the equipment puts it in the late 70s to early 80s. Price? For a nice one, not bad.

I think you did ok, I paid $65 for mine. If yours is a Grand Touring and V-172 it's probably in the '76-'78 era or so.

I'd need a close-up, but it appears to be somewhere between a 1976 to a 1978. Possibly a 1977, but again, too hard to tell from that distance. The decal on the seat tube might help narrow it down.
The price you paid was not bad. I'd say you got a bargain, but not a steal.
I actually found one put out for the trash near one of my bike rides.
Cleaned it up and adjusted and it turned out really nice. Even the tires were fine!
My daughter rides it now.

Much thanks! You guys are great! I wanted to get better pictures up, but can't find the cable that connects my camera to the computer. The current picture is from the ad. I hope to get closer pics up soon.
