Who here knows a good route from pasadena to Irvine area. Ive been trying to find a way to get down there, without getting on too many major 4-6 lane roads, and as many bike paths as possible. Anyone have any secret, safe, routes.

Depends where in Irvine are you headed? I have a few routes to Hwy 39/Azusa from my home in Anaheim and I travel to Irvine all the time so I could help you but I have no idea how you would get to hwy39 area from Pasadena safely. It takes me 2 1/2 hours to get to the base of GMR from my home and an hour to get to Irvine so your looking at 3 1/2 -4 hours from Pasadena to Irvine if you use my route. PM me if interested.

Getting from Pasadena to Hwy 39 is easy-- you just follow the route of the Montrose Ride backwards" (Sierra Madre-> Foothill-> Royal Oaks->(cheat and take bike path over to Sierra Madre again, avoiding bumpy stretch on Foothill)->Turn right at 39. Note that I cut out some of the small streets that take you between the major ones.
