Best advice for spectators: Whatch any madison you can. Points races and miss 'n outs are fun, too. Match sprints are interesting if you know what's going on and don't have ADD. Pursuits are boring.

I agree about the madison and points races, plenty of action. However, I saw Taylor Phinney win the pursuit at the last world cup and didn't find it boring at all. I think I enjoy watching the pursuit because if both guys are going for it, it can be a real battle that can go back and forth. The bronze medal ride that same night was boring because one guy came out and rode around the track just hard enough so that the other guy wouldn't catch him. The team pursuit is awesome to watch. I say all of this as a spectator. I've done plenty of criteriums, road races, and time trials but I've only ridden the track twice (the old Dominguez). Since they opened the ADT, I've been to all the world cups, world championships, jr. world championships and junior nationals, but still haven't had a desire to ride the track.

Oh I personally like pursuits as well, but the average Joe wouldn't find them that exciting. It's better than a time trial since there are 2 people on track at a time, but still doesn't have head-to-head, shoulder rubbing, close call competition that Americans crave.

I can imagine it's not for everyone. I'm only going to try it since it will challenge me (something completely new and way out of my comfort zone). But even if I dig it, you won't be hearing of me racing any time soon.

there were 8 or 9 of us. in the photos we were doing flying 200s so the riders who had done their 200 had pulled off. hopefully we can gat some more riders out there, otherwise it's a waste of time. the poor guy that rides for the national team drove out from ojai and was disappointed and i don't blame him

I'm pretty sure I'll make it tomorrow... you gotta give it time, word will get out that Tuesdays are back up and running.
