Southern California - Santa Ana Recevies $ 1,000,000 Grant to Improve Bicycle Infrastructure

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

In the current fiscal year (2007/08), the City of Santa Ana received $1 million from the Bicycle Transportation Account to construct an off-road trail parallel to Flower Street, just north of Sunflower (near South Coast Plaza). The contact person is Hamid Torkamanha

You might be able to work with him to identify an area where on-street lanes could be striped.

The above information was provided by CALTRANS - Regional Planning District 12. Please post your suggestions for striping (stripping - no suggestions necessary for stripping in Santa Ana Sorry!) in Santa Ana and we can forward the information to Mr. Torkamanha through the

North Orange County Bicycle Advocacy Coalition (http://nocbac.blogspot.com/2008/01/letter-to-mayor-pulido-santa-ana.html)

That must be along the drainage ditch, (that I used to play in 50 years ago) can't imagine how that'll effect us though. It could only be a mile or so, once it gets to Warner there's no place to go.

Mr Beanz would spend it a new groupo for that new bike. Come to think of it he ought to apply for a grant - The DuraAce Bike Improvement Grant

Followed that previous thread:D and for the life of me while I wouldn't ride it very long after dark has set in (I don't go to bar, bars either) I don't know what's wrong with SART. Rode SGRT a couple of Saturdays back on a club ride to Turnbull Cyn and compared to that route SART is a new 4 lane Fwy.

Most times I'd rather on the road anyway, too much slowing due to mall-eyed pedestrian traffic on trails and strong tendency to drift starry eyed and aimlessly into the path of over taking bikes in spite of on your left warnings.

Use it for "Extra Patrol" money so SAPD can chase the dirtbags off of the Santa Ana.
