Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Doing chases through the town center on a Friday night is always fun.

In mountain biking I go for single track with no big rocks to block my solid framed touring bike with 700x38 tires. Not much more then 5-6% up and no loose gravel on any steep dips.

For road bikes going down the 1-2% grade of San Gorgonio Pass in SoCal. Nearly straight downwind and a steady, smooth 40 MPH tailwind. Mile after mile after mile.

Fine dinner, plenty of wine, chocolate, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes.
...fixed with upgrades.

The perfect bike ride? Rolling singletrack, mixed forest, leaves are starting to turn, 18C, partly cloudy, no built stunts, some rocks, some roots, some stream crossings. Oh, and no horses, hikers, bears or cows.

I'd have to say it would start with just me and a couple of buds at the top of a mountain. Then just riding to the bottom of the mountain on a flowing fast single track covered with roots and rocks (some loose). Couple wooded ramps here and there. The ground around us would be covered in moss with tall pine trees everywhere. Of course there would be no signs of humans for miles except for us ripping down the mountain.

for me, i would have to say seeing all the scenery and climbing up the holy jim trail as fast as you can w/ your heart rate in the 190's-200 is a good ride...

Depends on the ride for me,

Road: Long, legs feel dead.

MTB: Good quality ride.

Is Holy Jim open, or burned and closed like Santiago Truck Trail??
Haven't made it up there since the fires, since STT and Whiting are closed.

sunny, 60 degrees, calm breeze, me and 5 or 6 of my riding buddies, at my trail. Riding skinnies, hitting big jumps and drops with calculated accuracy, wall riding, dj'ing, railing singletrack. sipping brews, then roll over to the firepit, party, discuss today's ride and camp out. no phone calls, no crashes, no worries
