It seems to me you don't have to be 50 to follow this recipe for a "younger" life.

Younger Next Year: A Guide to Living Like 50 Until You're 80 and Beyond*

by Chris Crowley and
Henry S. Lodge, MD

1. Exercise for 45 minutes six times weekly, both aerobic exercise and strength training.

2. Eat for nutrition, not for all the other reasons that people eat such as comfort, boredom, or easily available food.

3. Eat many fruits and vegetables.

4. Care for and commit to a wide circle of friends and other relationships.

5. Use your relationships to develop a support system.

6. Have a passion in life, a hobby, a reason to get up in the morning.

======================

By the way - I follow these principles, and, at age 68, feel "young."

Yes, great words of wisdom. This Tricenarian is getting an early start on that.
My friends have been known to tell me that I'm the youngest curmudgeon they know! ;)

Great advice, I've been sticking to it pretty well. Just weighed in at 225 this morning after 3 months of cycling and eating properly. Having a good hobby is extremely important. I just got over a serious break-up and without something to wake-up for I'd be going downhill quickly.

Friends? I have five sisters, four bother-in-laws, two nieces, one nephew and two of my sister expecting baby girls soon.

No time for friends outside of the family :)

Sounds like you got these good tips from a book

I agree, why wake up in the morning if all you have to do is the business of life? Start off with one small thing to look forward to in the morning and evening. Then gradually move to a life full of activities that bring you pleasure. Get ride of the car, ride your bike in the neighborhood. Spend your money in the community, get to know the people in your neighborhood, enjoy the sunrise and sunset.

Gas, .69 cents the price of a can of beans.

Good advice. The only thing I would add is "Get a good night's sleep".
