Thanks to everyone for coming out! Looks like everyone had a good time.

I was disapointed that the restaurant was on Sundays because I spent most of the last 10 miles fantasizing about the chips and salsa.

And a special thanks to Tiffanie for the support! I don't know about anyone else but I needed two extra water stops. Without Tiff it would have been a long haul from Ramona to the OG Market. Plus it's like being a pro rider when there's a car following.

Many thanks to Tiff for the support today, was great knowing there is someone back there helping us out if needed and the mobile water car was AWESOME, I don't think I would have rode as well today as I did if I didn't have alot of fluid to down, normally I conserve my bottles til I need it, today I was drinking LOTS, I think I went though 7 bottles today!!!

Was great riding with everyone again!!! I was hoping my pulling pace wouldn't break the group apart as I knew it was important for everyone to sit in from the wind to save energy for the last two climbs of the day. And the wind up front did suck on the 78, the legs gave me the OK so I was fine:D

BTW the team kit is freaking AWESOME!!! No saddle sores at all today. I need to invest in some replacement shorts for the others I have cuz they don't cut it now.

Thanks to Frank for organizing and to Tiff for providing excellent SAG support.

I had a good time overall, beautiful weather, great company, but my climbing today was teh suk. I had nothing the whole day and laboriously winched up Palomar, Mesa Grande and Lake Wohlford Rd at a painfully slow pace and in ridiculously low gears - the super secret ones I never use but have there "just in case". Today was the case - extra weight, not enough recent climbing and the aftermath of respiratory infections over the holidays added up to teh suk. I have some work to do. My half baked plan to to the Butterfield Double next week is off - I am not in the proper condition to do it.

you'll find your legs and lungs soon, give it some more time on the bike and you'll bang out a double like nothing.

Thanks Frank and Tiff! :D

I did better than I expected. Didn't seem to wilt about 50 miles like I normally do. I guess those long trainer sessions are paying off.

Outstanding (but difficult) ride!

Thanks to Frank for organizing, and the participants for making it such a fun day.

And, of course, thanks to Tiff for the top-notch SAG support!

I had a good time yesterday! Glad I was able to help out. I was wondering if I was *too* present and could have probably stretched out my 'leapfrogging', but I was having fun keeping an eye on everyone so I wanted to stay close. :) Everyone rode strong yesterday... I didn't even have to bust out the "p" word one time! :p What a great route... a lot of nice back roads. I look forward to participating in this ride on my bike next time. :D

I took over 100 pics yesterday! I'm off to California Adventure with the kids so you're all going to have to wait until tonight to see them...

What a day!!! I think that I have my excitement back after doing this ride!!!

I actually feel good, considering that I have not been on a bike since the Charity Ride and only had one problem which is drinking too much apple cider at PIE!!!

Overall, I was struggling to keep the pace that Jeff was setting and that is getting me motivated again. I also love that Matt, Mel and Frank all went for the OMG (http://www.bikeforums.net/showpost.php?p=3115043&postcount=1) version of the route.

Many highlights, and many pictures, but I'll have to upload those tomorrow since I left my camera at work after showing off to a fellow bicyclist...

Thanks a ton to Tiff for SAG, Frank for putting it together, and Dan for shaming me into doing the ride!

sorry about the pace on the climbs, I was in my smallest gear and could do nothing else but spin it. I wished I didn't stop for the phone call in the middle of S grade, so we could have rode up all the way since I knew I couldn't make ground on you. But you did climb it better then your last outting up there which is good:D

Palomar was not the problem, and it was fun to ride up almost the entire hill with you...

it was at mile 50 I wanted to die (apple cider) and then mile 70 I just couldn't muster enough push to help you out in the paceline... :o

02-11-08, 10:54 PM
yah that was why I had a sample helping of that sweet apple cider:D Don't feel bad about the paceline thing, I was fine up front. I really used to the winds in Esco. I mentally made it seem like I was out riding solo, saving energy and not trying to push it knowing that climb outta the wild animal park does suck. I was happy that no one fell off on that pull, I was scared to look back cuz we had to ride on the white line. Overall I think I played my matches well cuz after summiting Wolford I was toast, I just soft pedaled back to the cars.

If there wasn't those last two climbs, I prolly could have road another 50 miles easy. So I think I'm ready for a double this yr. Speaking of which, you gonna ride that one this sunday?

The front shot tends to give the misleading impression that I was having a good time.
