That noise you heard last night was the temperature falling!
From the Cleveland Lakefront Airport weather station:
1:20 AM 45°F
1:53 AM 30°F
2:53 AM 23°F
8:00 AM 12°F
Spring didn't last long.

It's -15 here at 11:00 am...with windchill it's -40.
I don't mind it...because it caused schools to be canceled today!
Someone I work with also heard the noise of shingles being pulled off of his roof from the wind!
Brr!
In ChiTown it went
2pm - 48°F / feels like 39°F
6pm - 23°F / feels like -3°F
10pm - 3°F / feels like -29°F
2am - -1°F / feels like -37°F

yup...50 degree drop in 9 hours. Went from springtime thunderstorm to small hailstorm to all-out blizzard in matter of hours in Chicago area. Couldn't see **** once i got picked up from work last night around 9:25 p.m. It was a total whiteout for a time.

The wind last night was defining. My wife kept waking me up (I use ear plugs:) asking what was that noise?
We now have a winter weather watch up for tomorrow night for 4-8 inches of the white stuff.
Yeah that was one mean front. We got hit with over a foot of snow and with the 30 to 50 MPH winds the visibility was near zero. Oh yeah don't forget the below zero temps.
My ski race league was canceled tonight and skiers love snow. Mind you we average almost 200 inches of snow a year and we are used to it. I don't think it has ever been canceled except for lack of snow and that tells you something. It was the visibility and drifting that made it so wicked.
So no skiing and hear I am once again surfing through BF!

Actually the sound you heard was psimet dropping the hammer on the trainer. It created a magnetic field so powerful that I caused disruptions to the power grid from 1am to 4am.
Sorry aham.
Seriously though we had power flicker a couple of times throughout the night. My wife's work (immediate care clinic) has been without power for 4-6 hour stretches off and on over the last 4-5 days. Miserable.

Well, if you had just hooked up the trainer while you were using it to generate some power (ala Lance Armstrong), aham wouldn't have been out in the cold. Of course, he could have done the same.
Unless you were saying you had and caused a power surge..
^^^ Exactly what I was thinking!
All this crazy snow has knocked some sense into me -- I'm thinking of riding the L into work tomorrow. :(
