Introductions - Hello...I'm the new guy!!!

Hi all, just wanted to say hello to all on the board. Just starting cycling last August, and the bug has yielded two bikes that I have rebuild already!!! Which brings me to the next point. I am looking to build a CF bike, very interested in the Bottechia CF78 frameset, and would like some advise and direction on things to look out for. My two others are traditional geometry and when I saw that the Bo was semi-compact, I thought it would be alittle more comfortable. Here's my idea...3

Sram Rival components for the shifting, derailleurs, chain and cassette. FSA Carbon Pro Team Issue Cranks (octalink with Dura-Ace BB 7700) and Look Keo's. I'm hoping I can use the Cane Creek S3 Plus 5 headset (which gives an extra 5mm stack height-again, looking for a more relaxed experience for long tours). Bars, not quite sure yet, but leaning towards the Easton EA30 Flat Top ergo in 31.8 and a Thomson stem. I thought about full carbon bars, but I'm not sure. I'll prob just transfer my Shimano 550s from my Trek, and maybe the seatpost as well. The saddle will be a Specialized Sonoma Sport Gel.

So, advice? What dooya think? Any forseen (or experienced) problems with building this frameup.
Any suggestions to steer me to or away from anything I may encounter with this project will be received with much love and respect:o

Hi all, again. Sorry about posting my original here, but I thought it was a way to intro myself as well. But, point taken with love...

the two bikes I own
a 59cm Dawes Lightning 1000. It was my first "real bike" purchase to test if this cycling thing was something I would really like enough to continue investing in. Bought it for $200 or so new, but it was my starting point. About 3 weeks in...bug bitten!!! Then I did my first charity ride, 35miles, and new 2 things. 1). Def in for life and 2). Needed to upgrade the parts. Most would ask why update that bike? Simple, fell in love with it. Sure it was only mid grade steel, but the quality of paint was spot on and it just felt good in the wind. So, I stripped her down and built her up with Ritchie Biomax bars, Ultegra 9 speed drive train (shifters, cables, brakes, rear derailleur, cassette), sram chain, 105 front derailleur, FSA Carbon Team Issue Crank with 105 BB, Thomson seat post, Cannondale stem, carbon fibre fork, Specialized BG saddle, Vuelta Starlite wheelset and Look Keo's. She currently weighs in right at 26lbs...about 3lbs less than with all the Shimano 2200 stock parts and the steel fork!!! After about 400 miles...I wanted another one but in aluminum to experiment with the ride differences.

Found a Trek 1000 at a ridiculously low price and snapped it up. Again, out went the stock stuff. In with Ritchie Biomax bars, Ultegra 9 speed drive train (shifters, cables, brakes, front derailleur, rear derailleur, cassette), sram chain, FSA Carbon Team Issue Crank with Ultegra BB, kept the Trek carbon seatpost, Trek Race stem, kept the stock carbon fibre fork, Specialized BG saddle, Shimano Wh-550 wheelset and Look Keo's. She currently weighs in right at 20.54lbs...about 2.5lbs less than with all the Shimano 2200/Sora stock parts and in a 63cm frame!!! After about 500 miles and two other charity rides...yep you know the story...

Now, as in my initial post, I am looking to build the CF frame with Sram Rival parts, keeping with the FSA Carbon Team Issue crankset (I really like those for some reason) and Shimano Wh-550's. Going with Sram this time around due to wanting the 10 speed option, wanting alittle something different than the Shimano shifting, and overall to have a different experience on the road...variety def aides in motivation at times when you can easily talk yourself out of riding.

In case you're wondering, I'm not quite obsessed to have 3 bikes. But the ride quality is perceptibly different, I like that, and I have two buddies who would like to ride, but are afraid to spend the money on building/buying a bike. So, once my 3rd is built, I'll invite them to start riding with me on my other two, and hopefully this will help them break the ice...and I'll have two new riding partners until they can afford to do create their own.

So, there's the proper introduction to who I am and I definitely look forward to being apart of this forum and the cycling world!!!

Here I am on my first built bike (Dawes Lightning 1000) for the MS ride in Myrtle Beach...all 228lbs of me!!! Gladly, I report, that I am now at 210!!!

And lastly...with my son in tow on the Trek for a charity ride in a nearby town (33 miler with a 43lb six year old in a 30lb trailer with supplies...food...drink...blankets...you know, kid stuff)

Welcome to the forum. I just got my first bike (since the beater I had as a kid) it's a Dawes Haymaker 1200. Even as a newbie I'm already "lusting" after all the accessories I've found. I can see how this can become an expensive addiction.
