Hi all, I need your help. As a first try I am desperately trying to purchase a Bianchi Pista bike or frame (or even a Mercier Kilo or a Motobecane SS), size 54-56, online from Hungary, Europe, but no dealer would sell and ship the bike to overseas - they say they have to obey certain export restrictions.
Could anyone help me with any sort of idea, or by naming a dealer who would be willing to ship? Thanks so much for any useful ideas. Tamas

Ebay?

Same is true for ebay sellers. Private sellers are reluctant to ship overseas, and whereas I found dealers willing to ship the IRO Mark V to Europe for 90 USD, the only dealer stripping and selling Bianchi Pista frames insists the package would be oversize for international shipping, only UPS would accept and ship it (for a fortune). I asked why the IRO can be shipped then, the Bianchi guy said he had no idea. So I am stuck.

lots of people sell pistas on ebay. that one is 51, when he needs a 54-56. further, the seller will only ship to the US.

Very curious why you want to buy one of the bikes that you listed. Couldn't you just get something as good or better where you are? I realize that the Euro dollar has very good value at the present time, is that why you are trying to get one of these shipped to Europe?

Yes, why do you want a Bianchi Pista anyway? For that price you could get a so much better vintage complete (or just a frameset) track bike, from Ebay and someone in Europe.

seriously, isn't track racing huge in europe? ordering a track bike from the US to europe would seem tantamount to ordering a soccer ball from here.

Thanks for the thoughts, you surely have points here. As for exporting soccer from the US to Europe, the Pista costs at least 670 Euros shipped here from Germany, that comes to 960 USD, almost twice the US price. Hence my attempt. I would love to find a nice vintage track frame, I had been trying to, but they all end up at around 500 USD naked, and then comes the gearing up. The PISTA seemed to be a nice compromise.
