On the last few rides I've done, I've been getting some serious knee pain. I know that depending on the area of the knee that hurts, that would indicate what the remedy might be in terms of adjusting the bike. Well, my whole knee hurts. So much for that idea.

I'm thinking I'd like to see a fitter. Preferably not the "Fitter to the Stars"...I can't afford that. Just somebody who knows what they're doing and can look at my form and see where the problem might be.

P.S. Please don't just give me the name of your favorite shop so you can throw some business their way. I don't got the money to burn! Thanks.

Ron Peterson

Peterson Training

He works out of Cynergy cycles, but can also come to you or whatever. Affordable is a relative term - the pricing Ron offers is competitive ($125 + up).

Pay for fitting, swallow the bill, save the costs of knee surgery and the pain - no need to take pain pills to ride. Unless you crash. Look for the people with sideways avatars.

$125 is just a bit too steep. I'm not working right now, so that's out of the question. But... I'll keep him in mind once I'm employed if the problem's not resolved.

Perhaps some people here would be willing to help. Depending on what part of the "Westside" you're in, you could stop by the Bikerowave in Santa Monica. Friendly folks, and I'm sure someone there can at least offer some insights/temporary adjustments that could help resolve the problem.

Then, eventually, when finances do work out (and they will), you can go for a formal fit.

Drop by Veloworx at 3102 Lincoln (just north of Navy) and ask the guys what it would cost to take a look at your fit.

Or, call 'em: 310-584-9797.

Good guys there, wot. They're just as likely to give it away as to charge some small fee for considerable expertise, in my experience. Very old school high end shop, in a good way...

That article basically says that the answer is...there is no answer! Interesting though.

That's a good one to know! I thought I knew all the Westside shops, but I wasn't familiar with that one. I'll definitely stop by. Thanks!
