I'm thinking I'll hold off on looking for a good deal on a 2003 and look into the 2004.

Look at that. I just don't like that look at all! I don't like the Dura-Ace crank at all! It almost a bad as those REALLY UGLY Honda Elements (SUV).

Now this.... this is more like it! I absolutely love this bike. I think I'd do ANYTHING for this bike. Too bad the frame costs as much as my whole $1500 bike!! I'd get an awesome deal on an '03 S-Works or even the World Champion version!!!

Funny how tastes can be different. I like the 2004. The top tube--seat stay line is incredible.

I don't know, I think it's the seat tube top that just kills it. It looks out of place and too big. Why don't they just make the seat tube half the size, rather than filling up the other half of the seat tube....

Just like the Honda Element will, it will grow on you in time.....

The top tube is something that needs to grow on me for sure. I like the traditional style frame in pic #2. As with the Element I like it :)

call me weird, but i think the s-works tarmack looks really cool -- and it's very interesting, very innovative technology. of course, i also love the element. it's a lightweight, hybrid power, environmentally responsible suv... but i guess i just tend to go for function over looks.

Ok Velo you are weird!:p But I am too because I like the frame also!

Put me in the don't like category, I don't know maybe I'm clinging to traditional geometry asthetics but that thing DOES NOT look good to me! :( I'm a much bigger fan of the 2004 as well.

I like it. Liked it since cyclingnews started showing pictures of it at the Vuelta. Innovative, interesting, and, from racers' feedback, incredibly comfy. Although, I think that frame designers are getting too creative with blending materials (see also Lemond's steel/carbon bikes). Nonetheless, it's sexy.

Really???
I really like this bike, and the new LeMonds. The blending of materials really works to me - moving frame design into a more modern era. The lines on the S-Works are just amazing....

Hmm... I guess I like the traditional frame. I have a 2000 S-Works and love the way it looks over the '04 model. However, I like the material in the '04 model. I guess it will grow on me and I'm once I see someone riding it, I'm sure I'll think it'll look really cool!

I saw these bikes a couple weeks ago at the T-Mobile International...I think it's pretty cool. The rep said its a few grams more than the 03 S works, but the carbon make it smoother. There are pleanty of traditional bikes around...there will alwaysl be...I have one....but this kind of inovation is what it takes to push the limits. And like art...there will always be those that don't like it and there will always be those that really love it...its when you don't have an option on it then the designer has failed. I just built up a track bike so I don't think the wife will let me get a new bike for a while;(
Ew. I think it looks horrible. Almost like one of those lowrider cruiser bikes.

yes!!! that's exactly it. i was just going to reply when i saw your msg on page 2. it looks like that, or like a super-retro mary-poppins comfort ride.
i don't get a sensation of speed from the thing. it looks "upright", like it's a hybrid.

oh yeah!!! a don't-like-it guy!!! Cool.
But us don't-like-it guys are losing 8-5 so far!!

The bike is taking a page from the Soft-Ride tri bikes, its supposed to have some incredible dampening qualities. Beyond that, if Cipo coud make a 2003 S-Works move like he did, I can't imagine the 2004 doing any worse. Chalk me up for one, with the 2004 DA cranks :)

Specialized motto is to "innovate or die" and this looks like innovation to me.. I like it.

Anyone have any clue how much a new '04 S-Works frame will set me back? I really want to purchase one this winter.

Looks great, but I like the 2003 Mavic Ksyrium SL's in black, then the new 2004 in silver.
