I'm asking this in the road forum because I'm sure there's a lot more experience with tubulars here.
Has anyone successfully ran Continental Gatorskin Sprinters with Tufo Extreme Tape? I know on the side of the box it says to only use the tape with Tufo tires but I've heard of people before using it with other brands. Anyone have any experience with this particular combination?

RacerEx used Extreme tape with competition tubular tires. The base layer is the same as Sprinter ones, I believe.
My plan is to either run Sprinter or Competition with Tufo Extreme tape this season.
I've used Tufo tape with nonTufo tires with no problems.
Only thing I've ever heard is that the tape is a bad idea on CF rims. I have no experience with such just something from a thread some time ago.

I believe it was the Extreme tape that's bad on carbon rims, but the regular was okay.

You're supposed to scrape the base glue or latex or whatever is on the base layer off the Conti's. Tufos come without it, and thats why you're only supposed to use tufo tape w/ tufo tires. The tape doesnt bond well to the latex/glue/whatever.

The Competitions do not have a latex layer on the base tape. Veloflex does, I am not sure about Vittoria (I have a PBK order arriving next week with some).

I can assure you that extreme tape sticks to gatorskins just swell. I just removed a sprinter gatorskin that had been taped and it had a death grip on my rim.

Tufo extreme tape with Continental Sprinters, Competitions and GP4000s. No problems what so ever. That goes for the other guys on my team as well.

Just wondering if anyone else has had experience with the Tufo Extreme tape on Conti 4000s? I've got the 4000s on the way and debating about glue or tape, I'd prefer to use tape. I've used the Extreme Tape on Tufos and Vittorias and never had a problem. I've also never had an issue using the Extreme Tape on CF rims, I'd never heard anything about that until digging up this thread.

You will not have any problem doing this mix of Tufo and Conti.

I use Tufo Tape with Gatorskin sprinters on my DV46T. It works perfectly wild even on the craziest of descents. I have been using this combo for some time. The regular tufo tape is a joke and dangerous. the Extreme holds, IMHO better than glue. almost too good when trying to change tires. A blow dryer heating up the rim tape will often help when removing.

Cool, thanks guys! I only use the Extreme Tape, and I've had an issue through hard cornering or 20 mile long descents, where the rims will heat up. I've always carefully used a heat gun for removing old tape. I've ordered up some from World Class Cycles for the Contis.
I asked this in the Racing forum, but what do you guys suggest for sealant (as a preventive measure, not once there's already a flat/leak)? Debating between Stan's, Tufo and Hutchinson.
