Battery question

I have a Helio/eGo ( http://www.egovehicles.com ) and the batteries are about 4-5 years old and fading. I'm planning on purchasing new ones and was wondering if I could use the old ones as range extenders?

Any complications with mixing old and new batteries?

The conventional answer is to not mix old and new batteries. What kind of batteries are they and how would you use them to extend your range?

No, they won't be worth using. At least not for long, you said they are "fading."

Mixed, they will drain your new batteries.

If you want to double your range, you need two new sets of batteries.

You're lucky you got 4 years of use out of them.

Are these batts Nickle chemistry?

The batteries are two 12V 35Ahr sealed lead acid

I agree with hotbike, be happy you got 4 years out of them and take them to the recycler. I did a search and I see that they are not cheap (~$123.00 USD). But trying to get more life out of them will be very frustrating. I use SLAs for my bike lights, and will the run time goes down, I know it is time to replace them.
