Just wandered in from 50+. Basically, I'm wondering if this is maybe a decent quality entry level bike with promo decals...or a typical Wally World POS with promo decals. Looks like a low end Shimano crank on it, alloy spider w/steel rings I guess.

Looking for a cheap MTB for easy two track/path riding, maybe to replace/augment my old Trek 820, or a quick turnaround after inspection/overhaul for a few extra bucks if it doesn't fit me. If the frame fits & doesn't suck I have some better components laying around I could slap on it for myself.

Thought I'd ask before driving cross town thru the snow. Thanks.

quick google search for "fila mountain bike" returned a police report for a stolen 18-speed valued at 30$. The other top hit was another CL ad stating "This is the bike you got when you saved the pepsi points." http://tulsa.craigslist.org/bik/535270296.html. Doesn't look like it's much more than a wally-world bike with some decals, as you theorized. The bike in the link you posted looks in decent enough condition to use as a utility/light use bike. 50$ seems a little steep to me, though. It's hard to tell without a component list (poor qual. pics).

Thanks pyro. If I went to take a look at it I'd pay $35-40 at most.

Nice sig, too.

ha, thanks. I also don't think that the fila would be better than the trek 820. Although on the low end of the spectrum, it is still an actual mountain bike. I know you understand what I'm getting at, so I'll leave it at that.

By the way, do you have any background in Physical Chem, or are you just aware of The cat?

Just aware of the cat & Schroedinger in general terms. I'm a "scientifically literate" (IMO) lib arts grad.
