Folding Bikes - Suitcase for folders

Anyone used this suitcase? It has an advantage over the F'lite as it is 3" larger in the small side but 1" less deep. Which would fit a downtube NS better. Travelways is 31.5X11.02X24.8 and F'lite is 31X21X12.

It looks like a good alternative BUT its total liner inches is 67.32 compaired to 64 for the F'lite and I think the oyster is 62.25.

62 inches generally is the rule. I think you increase your chances of getting caught with a larger case. Most say that weight matters most, has anyone been charged for having it oversized when it was still under weight?

I like the wheel system best on the F'lite this ones wheels are similar to the Oyster's setup. So would this store a Downtube without having to dissasemble the bike?

I have never heard of a case where one was charged an oversized-fee with the F'Lite.

Kinda relating to suitcase fit for a downtube. Will the $299 model with front suspension & derailleur fit into one of these suitcases as well? I just ordered one because the thought of bringing a bike with me without extra charges on trips requiring air travel is really alluring.

I am guessing you got the Downtube and not the suitcase. I think we would all like to see a Downtube in one of these suitcases.

The F'lite are always on ebay also the oysters. I just bought a F'lite for $108 with shipping. The f'lite is 2" over reg so I hemmed and hawed but finally decided they never measure, just weigh. Though I have heard with cardboard boxes they occasionally measure. The 29" oyster is legal meas but harder to pack. I have a 2007 Downtube NS and assume it will fit as I got it in a soft case that was 29x 20X11. I could get my folder in the soft case without removing the rear rack or fender but both wheels and all the other stuff off. That is good as I had a devil of a time getting rear rack back on when I took it off, the 4th screw always had to be struggled with until I was exhausted to get it on.

Have you tried it out? Does your Downtube fit the suitcase well and without disassembly?

I am still waiting for delivery but I know people get it in the 29" oysters but it is easier with the f'lite, am on long work trip so will get suitcase any day but my downtube I won't see til april, up to my eyeballs in snow here on Lake Superior so I ride my one speed dumpster bike. See

29" Oyster arrived today. Got it for $73 shipped. It is a tight fit with my '08 DT 9, but only in width because of the wheel axles which pushes on the side making it bulge slightly. An extra .5" would make it a much more relaxed fit. The derailleur had to be removed to fit(took off with hanger). A quick release chain would be nice for this step. The riser bars make it a bit more work to fit too. Gonna switch to flat bar & a trigger shifter hoping it still fits well. The rack doesn't fit. This was done according to:

I managed to fit it a slight different way too but ended up scratching the seatstay pretty bad with the cassette.
