I have a 2006/2007 S-Works Enduro now. Love the bike for Mountain Ski Resort downhill but at 32 lb it is not the greatest for local riding. Anyone test ride the 2008 Fuel EX9. Reviews in the mag's is good. The bike is light, just never have i been a big Trek guy?

I have an 08 EX8. The 9 is the same bike with better components. I really like mine. The shifting is perfect and the suspension is great. I have absolutely no complaints. I got the rim strips and valves to go tubeless. The lower air pressure makes a definite difference. The new EXs are a huge improvement over previous yrs bikes.

Actually, the 9 has carbon stays.

I have the EX7, and it weighs 32 pounds. One guy at my LBS has the 9, and we weighed it at a little under thirty.

Have you every thought about getting a Specialized Epic? Seems like a better bike then the EX's if you're looking for a XC bike, and the automatic lock-out is cool.

Are you talking 07? The 08 rear triangle is aluminum, even on the carbon bikes. The weight is also much less than you say it is. My EX8 weighs just a bit over 28 lb. The 9 is lighter by a little. Definitely not over 30.

Where the hell do you get your info from? The 9 has no carbon. And I doubt the 9 was coming it at just under 30 pounds. My EX8 (19.5) came in right under 28 w/o pedals.

Trek store.

Plus, there's always manufacturing discrepancies and errors in weighing.

Trek's Model differentiation sucks. Even my LBS was confused at first.

Ex 9 = Aluminum

Ex 9.0 = Carbon (and $2,000 more apparently)

Haven't seen the new 9.0 yet, but it is on my short list for this year's new ride.

I am currently on an Epic and thinking about the new Stumpjumper FSR as well. I definitely want MORE cush than my Epic gives me now.

Moar liek $1,400.

EX9 MSRP: $3409.99
EX9.0 MSRP: $4399.99

Unless I can't do math, it looks like the difference is $990.

You my friend, need to just be quiet.
