During the winter, are there any good deals on road bikes, since some parts of the country get cold and sales will be much less?

Looking to purchase a 2004, not 2003.

I think it depends on the weather in your area. If there is a lot of snow and the LBS has a very slow month, then you might be able to get a deal.

In my area, Maryland, I haven't seen any winter time deals.

Right around this time next year:D Yeah, I wouldn't imagine there really being any particularly great sales during the winter since the stores are just holding out for the start of spring. I could be wrong, but I haven't seen anything around here.

I haven't seen any great sales here either. BigFloppyLlama is right, same time next year.

Yes, same time next year. I wanted a junker bike, but since I am a bike snob, of course I couldn't get anything under a few hundred. But I did find a deal on a 2003 Novara Randonee. Oringinally 750, I got it for 550.

depends. if you are buying a frame you can get great prices on component groups (ultegra, dura-ace, etc) and good deals on wheelsets, etc. frames also clear out.

if buying a ready built up bike, buy it when you need it. you'd be depending on overstock situations, but store owners aren't going to be giving anything away.

Some LBS's have "early spring sales" in March - watch for those and you may save a couple hundred bucks. The prices won't be as good as around this time next year, though.

I really can't imagine a dealer getting in the 2004s and putting them on sale right away....
