Love the black and white shots.
Do you race? Is that why you have the Dura-Ace RD and (I'm assuming) road cassette?
What is this spreadsheet from Santiago you used?
black and white bikes are beee ut eeee fullll.
Beautiful shots of a beautiful machine.
Oh, and Santiago is the Excel master.

Fantastic Bike,Fantastic Pics!!!
Just one question...That is the first time I have seen someone use a Dura-Ace RD on a Mtb. Why??
http://www.pbase.com/robertseth/image/92420666/original.jpg
Edit: what Cogs are u using....That Cassette looks like some of the "Corncob" Cassettes I've seen on a lot of road bikes.
Just one question...That is the first time I have seen someone use a Dura-Ace RD on a Mtb. Why??Because he's a showoff and won't settle for a lowly Sora :D

Cassette is D/A. Or at least that's what the lockring says. Road components are used on many DH rigs because of the warp speed gearing.
Gorgeous bike BTW.

Do you race?
You mean, like, against other people? No, not lately.
Just one question...That is the first time I have seen someone use a Dura-Ace RD on a Mtb. Why??
Damned if I know. Where have you been looking?
Seriously, I'm gonna agree with bmalmquist's explanation because it sounds cool. In general, road stuff is shorter, lighter, snappier. Cassette is close ratio (11-23) because that's all that's required.
Gastro, you.....you........you suck!..............can I ride it?
I would say there's a pretty good chance that the answer to that question is probably no, mister funny picture guy.

Kids, here's a lesson for you. Stay in school and even you too can one day have a beautiful playbike like this. That is just hotness. The bike is hot and the pics are hot.
PS - I see the Barbie tassles didn't make it into the final build.

dare i ask the weight?
29.7 lbs. not counting mud from today. There's room to go lighter but I felt like I'd start sacrificing stiffness.
That bike is fscking hot.

Weren't you considering the Formula brakes at one point? What made you head towards the XTR? Did we have this conversation already? I vaguely recall us discussing this at one point.

I don't recall, senator.
The levers are XT - I went with those because I was intrigued by the "new" Servo-Wave. It's basically a floating lever pivot which provides a variable leverage ratio. They feel really nice so far, with great control and lower input levels required.
I had fun at the jumps. It was basically a shakedown ride. The condition of the track was obviously a little slick in spots, and that, combined with the sporty nature of this bike, made for some nice "oh sh|t" slideways moments.

I just took a peak at the spreadsheet as I wanted to look at the build sheet against the images and got a good laugh. There's an entry for one of the parts that reads, "vendor has not delivered". PM me your address and I will see that that item gets taken care of.

What does this spreadsheet have on it? Weights? Costs? Why use excel?
Sorry so many questions, I'm just curious I guess. :D

It's nothing special. Gastro needed a way of keeping track of components including weight, who he was sourcing them from, and whether or not the goods were delivered. I set up a spreadsheet using Google Docs for him that he then further adjusted to his needs.
Since I set up the spreadsheet and gave him author rights I always had the ability to see his build come to fruition. I was sworn to secrecy, however.
LOL wow.

Google Docs?
That's new to me. Never would have thought of using a spreadsheet for a bike build, but I guess that makes sense, keep things organized.
Good stuff, thanks.

Gastro, What helmet is that?
BTW nice bike
Never would have thought of using a spreadsheet for a bike build, but I guess that makes sense, keep things organized. It's nice; because, not only can you keep track of sizes, weights, whether what you ordered is coming/backordered or on-hand; but you can set up an easy sum of the end-cost cells to give you an always-up-to-date-total.
