I finally have my hands on a frame I can turn into my first fixie. The first, first frame, a Fuji Del Rey, is in a deep, dark corner at some USPS depot. This is my replacement and upgrade a 1975 Peugeot PX-10.

I have already rebuilt the headset and bb, and reamed and tapped everything. I am using the 1960's Mafac Racer center pull/s with new Shimano levers. The cranks are Stronlight 93's and the 42 tooth ring will be used. I turned around the BB spindle to bring the chainring in closer. If that doesn't line it up, I'll play swapout at the LBS. Next Monday my rims will be in and I was told that as long as I help labor will be free. Which is cool as I can already build wheels and everything. But I will also have all the spindles handy to swap them around and spacers for the rear hub. I have a new/old campy aero seat post and a old avocet racer seat that are now on it. I'll post the finished product in a couple weeks. The total is less than $500 for a double butted 531 lugged frame. That is near as light as the new super bikes and also has the nice retro look.

He's a cyclist. His legs are larger than that..... I hope.

Not the pic I posted. I think someone with a good sense of humor hacked it.

Haha, you got a lot of response for that not even being the right picture. Perhaps you will click the edit button on your original message and change it to the proper picture so we can see the bike?

Additionally, what besides the wheel components did you have to buy new? I am just trying to figure out what would add up to $500.. I know wheels alone could if they wanted to but I'm not sure what wheel stuff you bought..

I'll have to snap another pic and post it, sometime soon hopefully.

The buget was:

Used Stuff
Frame/Fork $125
Mafac Racer brakes $25
Cranks with Ring and BB $35
Bars and Stem $10
Seat $5
Tires and Tubes $20

New Stuff
Campy Aero Seat Post $15
Shimano SLR Levers $40
DA Cog and Lockring $30
Suzue Promax Fixed Hub $75
Campy C-Record Front Hub $25
Campy Record QR $10
Open Pro Rims $80
DT DB Spoke and Nipples $70
SRAM Chain $15

It actually came out to $580! I also had to pay shipping charges of about $25.

I guess I really racked up the price without paying attention. I hopefully will get to ride the damn thing the week after next. The "arrangement" hasn't worked out to well with the LBS's backlog of bikes waiting to be repaired. I already brought the wheels home and built them up. I am just waiting to have them help set the chainline(the Stronglight Cranks require as special BB puller that I don't have and they can't find).

Try a brass hammer and a monkey wrench. Worked for me.
