I thought "does it live up to the hype?" before watching it.

It's BETTER than the hype. :popcorn

I thought Hudson Hawk was hilarious and I don't see why it got so many crappy reviews.

I was recently gifted with one of my all time favorite movies ;)

"The Thing";) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084787/)

which version? I like the John Carpenter / Kurt Russell one. I watched it in an Austin motel while waiting for a job interview the next morning. I got the job.

+1. Great bit of stupid fun, that film. Richard E Grant and Sarah Bernhardt totally stole the show.

I feel the the same way about The Adventures Of Baron Munchausen, too.

Just went to see Hancock and The Pineapple Express.

Hancock was pretty good. I am a Wil Smith fan and he does a good job of picking movies to be in. This is sort of a different take on a superhero movie, and Charlize Teron is just so smokin' hot and boobalicious.

Pineapple Express achieved something I never thought could be done, they made a stoner movie that wasn't funny. I've seen most of them, with everyone from Method Man and Redman to Cheech and Chong, and generally you don't have to be high to enjoy them. This one, I'd say it would be the only way you'd enjoy it.
Agree on that review; just saw Hancock and found it to be one good and funny movie with one hysterical part to it:

I rarely go to the movies, I just wait for it to come out on video!

My whole household is on medical leave status so we've been watching a lot of DVDs. We just finished watching War Inc., 21, Burn After Reading and both Hellboy movies, all highly rated for entertainment value! A re-viewing of the Big Lebowski is next, then The Hulk.

Netflixed!

Seen Sunshine? Rent Sunshine by Danny Boyle if you like "slower" sort of sci-fi.

Ehhhhh.

20 minutes into it and I had to turn it off. I'll get another 20 minutes in tonight. Gonna take about 4 sessions to get through it I figure. I don't like the washed out gamma look it relies on and singing the dialogue means repeating the dialogue and I guess I'm just not as into musicals as you (ohh la la! :)) cuz repeating "i have a blood disease!" 10 times doesn't delight me but rather makes me wish they'd just go to the next scene already.

I am not as cool as thee.

update: I couldn't do it. Had to ff through the whole thing.

Let the Right One In~ Swedish arthouse vampire flick. Pretty rad, but not Twilight or Underworld. Which is good.

Also, voice over dubs always suck so turn the subtitles back on and watch it in Swedish. I'm amazed at how many people complain about foreign movies because they all sound like Iron Chef. Man up and read the subtitles.

Also also, Dom DeLuise is dead. May he rest in peace.

How come modern vampire movies portray vampire characters as whiney ghey emos?

I preferred it when Dracula was portrayed as a sleaze bag or how Nosferatu was portrayed as a monger.

Imagine how bad you think the new GI Joe movie is, now take that mental picture and multiply it by 100x, and that is how bad it was. Parts of it reminded me of Flash Gordon from 1980, only no Queen soundtrack and no cool Hawkmen and Max Von Sydow.

Imagine for a moment you are on the Greyhound bus, and you made the mistake of sitting in the back. Now imagine you feel a pinprick sensation and you look up and see a pygmy with a blowgun smiling at you evilly, teeth filed off to points, and he has just hit you with a curare dart. As you feel the paralysis wash over you, the 300lb guy in the seat next to you who smells vaguely like toenails and cheese finishes off a bottle of Robitussin and decides to take his shirt off and snuggle with you. Then he begins playing with himself. Then he begins playing with you.

That's what GI Joe was like.

BTW, I meant to go see Funny People and got the times wrong, so I figured "How bad can it be?"
