Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - training on a fixed gear.....

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I just completed building my first fixed gear, and its an awesome ride!! But has anyone seen any benfits to training on a fixed gear as opposed to to Hybrid? If so, what have been your experiences?
Yeah, Lance trained on a 41X17.

The benifits of training on a fixed gear will probably be increased endurance, stamina, and strength, as well as a better spin.

Yes, but it really depends on your gear and how your ride it. Overgear it and ride it like a lazy hipster and it'll do you no good.

I put 10 miles on my fixed gear to every mile I put on my geared bikes this past year. I rode that way because I had much less time for riding than in previous years, and I find I get a better workout on the fixie than I do on a geared bike if its a shorter ride (~20 mi). On the other hand, I tend to stay away from the longer and steeper climbs when I'm riding the fixed gear.
