I'm thinking of selling my 07 Specialized FSRxc Comp (Gloss Black) and going back to a hardtail. How do you think the Giant XTC Alliance stacks against Specialized's Stumpjumper hardtail?

Be sure to post a review. It seems like a killer deal for the money, better than the stumpjumpers. I recall hearing it has a relatively low BB? Stumpies have always had great handling though...

We just sold one at our shop, I built it up and rode it around the shop and it seems like it'd be a sweet racebike. I was definitely considering an EP on one before I started building up my salsa.

Thats what Im going to do, minus the salsa part haha. We dont have any in stock, so Im going to get it and hope for the best, along with some light upgrades as well.

I've still been thinking about it, haha. I just finished the Salsa Ala Carte build though and impulse bought a Superlight, so really don't need another new mountain bike. They are nice though.

This sounds like a job for B2B.

He's been riding an Epic for a good while and he busted out the XTC the other day. If I remember right...he still preferred the Epic...even in KS.

Yes I did, Even though they are both XC race bikes, they are worlds apart. It took quite a while to get used to the faster steering. Constantly shifting my body position to maintain traction on the hardtail was almost a lost art, one that quickly wore me out. But nothing I've ever ridden, rails corners in tight switchbacks like my XTC.
If I only could have one trail bike it would be a full susser. But it nice to have both. As for the stumpy hardtail, It's an awesome bike and would probably make a better everyday trail bike than the XTC.
