I've been playing Knights of the Old Republic a lot lately, and I am in awe of the stunning Sith armor worn by Sith troopers throughout the game. It's a smooth, golden armour suit, and I wanted to link to a picture, but I can't find a single one out there! Most of the Dark Side guys have great uniforms/battle suits.

And then we have the Germans during WW2. Outstanding uniforms!

Of course, the costume designers for Star Wars clearly "stole" a lot from the WW2-era German uniforms, so it's not surprising that the bad guys in SW ended up with nice uniforms as well.

Because the Nazis understood that aesthetics are a necessary part of rhetoric and
propoganda. Go watch a Leni Riefenstahl film. Getting the mass of the population behind
crazy and evil ideas takes good rhetoric. The aesthetics of uniforms contribute to the willingness
of young men to rush off for a teacup full of glory and a barrel full of misery in the mistaken
assumption that the quantities are reversed.

^^love the Royal Irish Regiment one. I like that the dog gets a matching spiffy uniform too!

A well-designed uniform is a great intimidation tactic. "We look better than you, and we will KICK YOUR ASS!!!" :D

Actually name an army that HASN'T been the bad guys to someone. The British and the Americans have a long history of being the bad guys in some war of conquest somewhere in the world and I'm not necessarily referring to current wars.

Now I know that this statement will wind some people up but I don't see the world in black & white. This idea that there is a battle between good and evil and that everyone is one or the other is the greatest propaganda of them all.

Regards, Anthony

What I started out writing, but didn't make the final post, was that I don't necessarily mean that Germans were bad guys as such. Soldiers rarely are, in that way. Governments are bad. Generals can be. Regular army guys usually aren't. They're just out there doing their job.

I agree with this post a LOT! The leadershi;p is usually the rpoblem.

The poor schlub on the line is just doing his job generally.
