i am thinking of getting a 2003 Allez Sport and just want to get everyone's opinions on it... i can probably get it for around $700-$750 at closeout... how are those Tiagra's...?
edit: i forgot to ask, at roadbikereviews.com, they have a category for an 18 speed Sport but i don't see it at Specialized website... what's up with that... i'd rather have the 18 speed but i think the store over here has the 27...

I just built a 2001 Sport and I absolutely love it!!

It's an '01 Sport frame and fork, but all the rest is '03 Shimano 105 group and a ritchey headset and handlebars and Shimano R540 Wheelset. It's pretty sweet!
I saw the '03 Sport, it's pretty good. I like the way it rides. Yeah, they should be around $700... I got an 18, not a 27.... I don't think I needed the triple crank.

I got my 2003 Allez Sport (24) in September of '02. They accidentally sold the 2002 model that I had purchased, so the got me the '03 which had a few upgrades. I think the LBS I use is clearing out the '03 Allez Sport for $649 USD.
It has been an all around great bike. The wheels are the thing that I would really like to upgrade, but that being said, I am a Clydesdale, and have popped 2 spokes, that it.
I have about 4000 miles on the bike, and the only work I have had to get done besides wheel truing is to replace the bottom bracket. They covered it under warranty and put an Ultegra bracket in it. Honestly, (thought I lust over higher end bikes) this bike should provide you with most everything you need unless you are a hard core racer. (I generally ride about 160 miles per week, plus ride most local centuries.)
If you have any specific questions about the bike feel free to post here or PM me.
(I have added Profile Designs Air Stryke Aero bars, Look PP357 peddals, and a Selle Itallia Prolink Saddle, and Michilin Axial Carbon tires.)
