In April, San Diego will have the Alpine Challenge. This year (rumor has it) that Andy Hampsten will be there. Apparently Bill Holland knows him and talked him into coming here.

It's on the Sunday before Breathless Agony ride (following Sat). The 72 miles one has 7k ft of climbing.

Meh...did it two years in a row. Scenic as all get-out, but meh. Not any more scenic than Palomar, Baldy, or any of the hills I normally ride.

I'll still probably do it again this year, as my company is a sponsor...but I'll be all meh about it.

It'll be fun seeing Hampsten toweling off all the roadie drool. He'll be off the front within the first 200 yards, and I'll be all alone in the middle of the pack on the 30 mile climb...again.
