Mountain Biking - Mavic F219 or Sun SingleTrack

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Im debating between either of these rims, they would be on XT disc hubs, im leaning towards the SUN ones becasue their slightly cheaper, but other than that, I really am unsure. I do freeriding and enduro riding and a little xc. Anyone?

Hi man
If i was to buy rims , then definately those two are my main choices, but like yourself i am at a dilema. I like the looks of singletracks with aggresive graphics, but to be honest mavic has a great reputation plus the F219 is cheaper than the Sun ones.

I'm very happy with my Mavic rims on my XT disc (Avid mechs) hubs.

I've always liked Mavic products better than Sun's. I've gone through many wheelsets and the Mavics just seem to hold up better! Consider my vote for the F219's.

I know this is an older thread, but since both these wheelsets can be found inexpensively now...
I have the unique perspective of owning both. I would call it a tie - they are both reliable, stay true, and haven't had any probs with either - I think the Suns are a tad heavier, so I'd probably go with the F219s, since they are also cheaper.

i've got singletracks on my fluid and they're more of a downhill racing rim than a rim built for freeriding. they're good and strong and all, but i've already flatspotted my rear pretty bad. i'm still riding it, but if i were to get another set of rims, i'd look for something that could handle more freeride type abuse.
i've heard nothing but good about mavics... i'd say go for those if you're gonna freeride on them.

I think after nearly 2 years, he's not looking for wheels anymore.
