What should DG name his cat?

Think he had a very good name in one of his previous pets----"Twice"

Because if he called it once- it never came.

Since it is a cyclist's cat, naming it is a no brainer.;)

I once owned a cat. She thought that her name was "Get Down".

Wait till he sees its personality develop, then decide from there. I voted "other." Sleepy, Bashful, Dopey, Grumpy...

He should name it after his old hair-do:

Maybe start off now calling it Cat 5 and see how it goes? ;) I hear mice are good for interval training.

Good choice--almost as good as Jet.

One of our cats is called Jet. We were going to call it Schuie after Shumacher- but the wife wouldn't allow it. And although a bit old- It can still outdistance the dog up a tree.

Jet would be a good name...unless the cat is slow, that would be a catastrophe.

There is of course only one possible name for his cat. . ."Angst".

I voted "other." He should have it a while to see how its personality opens up as it bonds (as much as a cat bonds) with him. But no matter what he calls it, it won't come when called -- it'll come when it wants to. Such are cats.

Just had a flash -- Kitty Diego. Addresses cat's femininity and the fabled Diegos simultaneously. And it's a simple enough name that even DG can remember it. ;)

I suppose you could name it Selina, which was Catwoman's true name in Batman. Or Julie for the lovely Julie Newmar. Or I guess Eartha or Halle if you want.

I have a daughter named Hallie. (And I had never heard of Halle Berry when we named her.)

Cats are evil. They only look cute so they can lull you into relaxing your guard.

I had a friend many years ago who named her cat, "Trigger." Naming a cat after a dog is amusing. Naming it after a horse was really funny.

And it was a great 50+ name, too...

Oh yeah...

"GEEZER"

After about a year, all the cat will want to do is sleep.
I like to sleep. I'm a geezer.

GEEZER sounds about right.

If the neighbors start complaining about the old Geezer next door,
you can assume naturally that they mean the cat.

As the lovey ladies in the area learn to love your cat, you can
legitimately show up at their door whenever they call your cat.

I think I'll change our cat's name to Geezer.

Geezer works.

No-one's suggested 'Ruby' ? Cat looks a bit white, after all.

On a sad day, and in the spirit of commemoration, affection and respect - 'Sheldon' ?

I thought of Ruby, as did someone else here, because of my Roubiax, but I call my bike Ruby Roubaix, and I think I need to expand my thinking.

As for Sheldon, I'd do it in a heartbeat, but it's really a boys' name.

Does the cat really know she's a girl?
Has she been spayed (sp?)?

Our guy was neutered....so we considered him sexless...became
open season for picking out a name.

My favorite name for a cat belonged to a friend, who named it Underfoot. Perfect. And of course another friend had a cat named DC, for Darn Cat (well, not darn, but you know what I mean...) :D

I have through my life always had cats... I never have a name in mind... I get to know the cat and the cat picks his own name (well you know what I mean, the cat will settle into something that works for him). The current little guy that lives with me I picked up from a shelter in Sonoma. He had to travel down to OC in 100+ heat and he was a little trouper. He's just a cool cat. Very dog like. He was just a "Pip" of a cat so his name is now Pip (or Pipper, or cookies! - whatever he answers too!).Here's my guy - note the square tipped ear, very manly!

Have you no patience man? As a child did you torment your parents with the "are we there" line? Are there people out there standing in line, clamoring to be with the geezers?

Happy almost birthday. How's it feel to be an old fart?

Edit: :D

Who you calling 'man'? Boudicca was an Iceni warrior woman who razed London and St Albans to the ground before the Romans got their revenge and captured her, so you better watch it, right? Rumor has it she took poison rather than being paraded through the streets in triumph. ;)

But yes of course I tormented the parents with the "are we there yet" line. Didn't we all?

Thanks for the good wishes. :)
