Anyone got a Zinn bike

I'm looking at buying a racing bike from Zinn Cycles - who specialise in bikes for Tall people.

Anyone got any experience with them?

I'm 6'7'' and 300lbs - so I guess I qualify as a Clydesdale.

Hi Adrian. I am 7' tall. I considered a Zinn, but they were quite expensive. I eventually got a custom from Co-Motion cycles. (http://www.co-motion.com/singlemenu.html)

Mine is not a racing bike, but they do have other models there. Each one is hand-built so they can customize it.

They were very helpful. I got a custom fit from a local dealer and then spoke with Dwan at Co-Mo on the phone to hammer out the details. Check them out.

Zinn is an interesting man....I like his thoughts on higher bottom brackets and longer crankarms.

I am riding my Waterford with Coda 180mm crankarms and so far , so good....hills are a little easier to get up over.... :)

Yeah I wanted to try the 220mm cranks but they would hit my chainstays. Still running the DA 180's.

I did a lot of research on Zinn when I was looking. I'm 6'6" and I decided not to purchase from him because Serotta is in my own town. Also I was a bit concerned about about just sending my measurements off and receiving a frame in return. All the reviews of his stuff were quite positive though,

Thanks for all the contributers to this thread. At "only" 6'5" I'm just beyond the off-the-rack range due to long limbs and short torso. In the early 80s I had an OTR 27" (frame AND wheels!) Nishiki that worked well for me. Thats around 685 in metermilz. Sadly I bent that frame...still have it, maybe I'll fix it one day, but technology and fashion have moved on, and I keep thinking I should get a modern road bike that really fits.

In particular, this thread informed me that Co-Motion is an option. I thought they only did tandems.

Yeah I've got a custom Zinn Magnesium framed roadbike with a SRAM Force Groupo, Spinergy Aero wheels and 220mm crank arms. It was kind of a hassle to get, as are all things custom and there were a few bugs to work out but it has made a tremendous improvement in my ability as I no longer have to mince up hills on those stupid tiny 175mm cranks.

BTW I am 6'8" and 170lbs so not an Athena or a Clydesdale but still quite happy.

If you have the time to iron out the bugs and the money to drop on a good bike built by one of US (tall people) then go with Zinn, you'll be glad you did.

Thanks! I really like it. It's all geared out for tri's at this time of the year. I just did the Lake Placid Ironman loop and the Geneva Mussleman loop. Great ride! Very comfortable, but VERY long!
