Sounds like a lot of people are going. :)
If you see a guy on Blue and white Ridley Orion (my new bike, pictures will be coming soon :D ) in UCI Jersey say hi.

Crit is tomorrow, can't wait. I was thinking of going for an hour or so spin afterwards.

Ya gotta love 7:00 AM start times. Reminds me of juniors races last year. I hate Cat 5.

Luckily, you only have a handful left.

That kinda thing is why I'm still a cat V. At least it's only about 35 minutes away for you.

I'm an hour and a half away, and there's no way I'm gonna do 3 hours of driving, and get up at 4:00 a.m. (Figure I'd need to be out the door at 4:30 at the latest, to give myself enough time for registration, warm-up, etc.) to do a 30 minute crit.

Same story with the last two crits, 'cept maybe Brea, which is only an hour away.

Hell Im going to be up at 4:30. Pick someone up at five and roll out. I need an at least 45min to warm up. I dont know how people can do one on no warm up.

It really really sucks. Anyway mine is at 8:25 :p. Will get there around 7 to see my friend race. It will be his first race, I hope he does good.

I'm out. Looks like I won't be racing until Baker to Death Valley.

Sorry to hear that, John.

There were a lot of twitchy riders in Cat 4 today. Once again, I finished with the pack but not in the top 20. It was a perfectly clean race until the large pack sprint bunched up at the finish and two riders went down shortly after the line.

I saw that cat 4 finish...bummer to do the whole race and go down 20 yards past the finish.

I raced the 5's this morning....man 7am is early...only 2 more races to get out of the 5's.

I finished 9th overall....bad placement on my part, i know i could have top 5'd it!

Good job to chuckles (jason) for his 3rd place!! although it was from off the back...what's up with the free laps?

Just playing bro..good racing!

Congrats to Jason!!!

Also got a text message from Speedee for a 3rd place finish. Not sure if he meant a team or personal result yet...

thanks, guys!

yeah, i thought i had actually finished 4th, but they listed me OTB on the results, so i had to find the officials and protest. it all worked out in the end, and they even decided that one of the guys who was sprinting with us was, in fact, OTB. so that moved me up to 3rd. i told the guy i didn't want to take a podium finish away from anyone, so it was no big deal. i thought i was 4th and was fine with it. i just wasn't going to accept that they listed me as being lapped after busting my butt like that at the finish.
i still didn't get my medal, though. once the results were posted, teh vultures swooped in and snagged all the hardware before i had won my protest.

special thanks to crash for being there to back me up on that one!

congrats for both of you. Tomorrow will be a fun ride, I've been lazy over the weekend and didn't ride at all.

weird ending... I thought I was 2nd. The guy crossing the line ahead of me was popping and blocked left/right/left. I didn't want to crash out and by the time I finally got around, he got me by 1/2 wheel at the line... I also did the next race, so did not see the results until later and was surprised that I was listed 1st. Thought maybe he was DQed, but they told me he was lapped. Odd... Oh well anti-climatic, but I'll take it...

that's too funny... I've done that a few times w/VMC :p ... and yeah, I just don't picture Vireo carefully choosing any smilies! :D

Just a quick re-cap:

Master's 40+/4-5
Won a prime for 5 BAR points. Had okay positioning for the sprint. Managed 18th. Meh.

Cat 4
Was afraid I wouldn't have the legs for this. Started by just sitting in and trying to recover. Worked on my "moving up" skills. Had no trouble with the legs. Felt good for the last 5 laps. Poor positioning in the end. Pack finish.

Full recount is on my blog (http://web.mac.com/mkadam68/C-Blog/Home/Home.html).

Here's the sprint in the Master's 40+. I'm behind the La Grange rider dead-center.

A friend of mine told me about this course and the group that goes out there on Thursdays, but says he hasn't been in a year.

Are people still practicing on Thursdays?
