Pacific Northwest - Anyone in the Seattle area willing to help me with my bike?

Im new to the whole bike thing. And I'm not so rich, actually a poor college student working on a bike trying to rebuild it from the ground up. Frame is in good shape. I'll supply some money for some Beer if that help. Or whatever you need, as long as its cheaper then what they charge at shops. I have a Raleigh Sprite 27 bike, and want to convert it to a single speed coasting bike. With one brake in the front. So any help would be appreciated. Free the better. Ill supply the beer. Bike is pretty much almost stripped down, just having trouble getting the chain and pedals/bottom bracket off.

There's a bicycle co-op in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood called Wright Brothers Cycle Works. I know you probably are poor, but for $30 you can get a lifetime membership there and fix your own bicycle. You can use their quality tools, stands, grease, ask questions, whatever. Well, they charge for more than the one free question, but usually there's somebody else there who can help.

They also have a fridge for taking/leaving beer, if you like.

I'd love to help, but I'm way down in Oly.

+1 on Wright Brothers. I am a member there. Some of the best money I've ever spent.

To the OP - The legendary and recently deceased Sheldon Brown (http://www.sheldonbrown.com/) is a wonderful resource for the aspiring bike mechanic.

Thanks for the wright brothers input. Hows Greggs Cycles near greenlake? Its a little bit closer to me. I live around the Lake City Area.

gregg's is more of a high-end type of place, not the first place i'd think of when on a budget. decent shop though.

definitely check out recycled cycles (in the u-dist) for parts, they've got tons of used ones of all sorts. best of luck!

Thanks Matt! Checked out Recycled Cycles today! They could help me put together a used coast single/fixed gear setup! Can't wait. Going back in tomorrow with my frame, so we can figure everything out.
