Its time for my visit to NoVa, specifically Ashburn/Leesburg area & I am hoping to get in on a nice training ride decent B+ pace preferring some good miles. Anyone know of any rides this weekend, 2/9/2008, in that area of NoVa?
thanks

Potomac Pedellars has rides both days of the weekend but they don't seems ideal for you. Saturday is a 25 miler at a C level in Ashburn. Sunday is a 50 miler at a BB pace but it starts in Chantilly,w hich is some distance from where you are.

Looks like PPTC has a lot of rides in Maryland that day.

If you don't mind driving a bit, the PPTC ride out of Bellhaven (Alexandria) is a good one. The longer route is almost 40 miles and has some good hills.

Looks like there are several B/BB rides on Sunday - Nokesville, Chantilly and Glen Echo.

A few other suggestions besides the PPTC rides: Reston Bike Club has a no-drop impromptu ride Saturday morning and a ride from Reston Town Center on Sunday: http://www.restonbikeclub.org/monthly_summary

Trails End Cycles in Purcelville might have a shop ride: http://www.trailsendcycling.com/index.html

Evolution Cycling might have a training ride that day (don't see anything) http://www.evolutioncycling.org/new/ they also have a bunch of local routes you could try.

You might check on the road racing forum - a bunch of NoVA and DC metro riders there and they might have something planned you can join. The BikeWashington group on Yahoo might be another place to ask.

I'd bring woolies and aero bars, though - long-range forecast calls for possible light rain on Saturday, temps hi 30s/low 40s. Possible light snow overnight, windy and barely low 30s at best for Sunday. Good luck!
