Manufacturer, Retailer, Survey and Consumer Feedback - TOMMASINI New dealer sign - help us choose a design!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Dear fellow cyclists - we need your input!
We are in the midst of creating our new dealer signs. We sent these two designs out to a group of dealers and customers to get their vote on which one they liked best but the votes came in dead even. So we figured we would open the voting pool up and ask for your vote. If you would like to vote for your favorite design, please votes either, RED or BLACK and briefly tell us why you like that design the best.
As a thank you for your input, we will randomly select and contact a few people through the private message area and send you a Tommasini T-Shirt.
Thanks and happy voting!
RED sign = the classic/vintage poster icons
BLACK sign = the "I'd rather be riding an Italian" sign

The black is far better as it's eye catching, yet not overly busy as the red one is. With the black I notice it's a Tommasini sign very quickly, with the red the Tommasini name gets lost among all the graphics.

Black. You know what I'm sayin'?

I like the red. I think the posters inside the logo would be more likely to attract the eye for a longer period.

not black. At least not like that. I see the quote and then I see red underwear. That what you're thinkin?

I thought the black one was cool until Dex pointed out the red undie thing. So I go for the red. But something about it.
Hmmm
How about outlining the logo in black instead of the white? Might make it "pop" more? ;)

I like the clean logo and typography from the black design, however the size of the large logo from the red design is more eye catching. The red design gets my pick.

I like the black design. It is a nice combination of bold graphics plus the traditional Tommasini design.
However, I think the slogan, ("I'd rather be riding an Italian!") would get tiresome over time as a sign for your authorized dealers. Whether you think it's funny or not (a matter of opinion), it would seem to me that you want to be your dealer sign to be more timeless and something that nobody gets tired of (either you or you the dealer).

Thanks everyone for your input. It's still a close race and we have customers and dealers divided on both signs. We have done t-shirts with the black versions slogan and they have been a big hit with everyone. But of course the red is classic. I'm sending the sign off to print today - but still not sure which one - we may just have to print both and let them pick. Thanks again!
I like the Black design better. Just cleaner and pops out more.

Pantie references aside the red does a better job of promoting the Tommasini brand.
The line "I'd rather be riding an Italian" sells the category of Italian bikes not specifically your brand.
The red however features your positioning line. The use of the classic cycling posters reinforcing the message.
Also there is a reason Stop signs are painted red and not black. Red draws the eye. Leave the black for the t-shirts.
Finally I would suggest you include your url on the red sign.

red for sure. classic look to it. and yes, the black can be understood in a different maner
I like the classic design of the red and think it is a better fit for the image that you want to create. I also suggest....." The ultimate in handcrafted Italian bicycles!"
Best of luck!
Did anyone ever get a T-shirt as promised?

Did anyone ever get a T-shirt as promised?
I know of one person that did not, but that was his own fault.
I know of one person that did not, but that was his own fault.
Huh?
There was a member that was promised a shirt, but he never claimed it.

Black- but with a different font for "Id rather be riding italian"
and some type of very subtle decorative bordering/pinstriping inside the red "T" logo.
Ill do it for you :)

Black it is. The purpose of a dealer sign is to provide the public with a quick-to-read visual marker - Here we are! The black sign will read quicker for people driving their cars or riding their bikes. The red makes a cool inside poster/sign, but black is better for building signage.
Since the design was finalized over a year ago, your opinions probably mean little at this point.

Red sign, it has depth and I guess all the poster inside your logo shows the company’s legacy.
But I don't feel comfortable buying from a company that tells me it’s the best, and if you’re not riding the ultimate “whatever” you suck. It just feels like your trying to ridicule ever other company, when there is no best bike for everyone, that’s just imposable to judge.
You could just be honest and say something like “Quality Empowers Champions”.
Lastly, as a part time graphical artist “Authorized Dealer” should be the same font as Tommasini, it links that location and your products.
