Unfortunately, there is not much you can do that is free.

Are there any concerts in the area? My wife and I used to take a blanket and just lay it on the grass and listen outside the stadium with a picnic basket.

I really appreciate this idea.

After reading this I called up the exporatorium and we went there.

Glad you had fun Jon. It's really a fun place. They change some of their exhibits every few months so there is always something new. I have a family membership and we go about once a month. My 7 year old never gets tired of it.
