Commuting - Ride to work day on the Gold Coast

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Probably a little late to post this, but I will anyway. Anyone who can make it to Broadbeach Mall at 7am tomorrow with a bike can score a free breakfast (and before you all run away, I won't be the one cooking it), and there's the chance to actually win a bike and a few other things.

The Austrailians i was with ( Army paras ) called all beer piss. why do you guys call it piss? I asked. "Because it's piss mate, you drink it, then you piss." was the reply. I had to agree.
Crack a tube of piss. = open a can of beer.
Not appropriate for a 7am commuter get together i guess.
I hope the get together was a success.

I see! Maybe when I drink a beer it's Belgian or German and from a glass so we're talking about different things... :P
I must confess I've head 'crack a tinny' before. But if it comes in a tin/can it can't be any good :D
Now that you mention it... Piss can be used for any kind of alcohol (or plonk/booze/cooler,etc)
Whatever you call it...

You know, I've lived here all my life and I've never once heard that expression used in conversation. I will say this though: one wouldn't say 'crack a tube of piss'. The only thing that comes in 'tubes' is 'piss', so the 'piss' is redundant. As Australians like to economise on syllables the correct saying would simply be 'crack a tube'.
But what do I know about being Australian; I don't even like sport.
