Texas - Where to get a bike packed for shipping in Dallas???

I have a bike that I sold via the TXBRA.org classifieds. I would like to get the bike shipped out this weekend but am having a hard time finding a place to pack it up for me. It appears that the larger local shops no longer pack bikes if you've sold it on the internet in any way, shape, form or fashion. Yes, I could lie and say that didn't sell it on the internet but these are the folks that repair my bike and give me discounts on certain things. I'm not quite sure of their reasoning for not packing bikes but I will respect it.

Being the lazy person that I am I would prefer no to pack it up myself and I refuse to pay someone $60 to do it (which is the price that one shop quoted me). Does anyone know of a shop in the North Dallas, Plano, Frisco, Richardson area that will pack a bike for shipping for a reasonable amount?

In the past when I got boxes from the LBS to ship bikes the boxes still had the packing material in them that the new bike was wrapped in. All I had to do was use my own tape.

I have very selective laziness. This is just one of those things that I don' feel like doing.

I work at B&B Bicycles in Cedar Hill and I know we have done it before. You could call the shop and see what they charge for it.

I was at RBM Frisco this afternoon getting some cleats and a dropping off a wheelset to be trued. I spoke to some of the employees about the matter of boxing bikes and can clearly see their point in why they can't and won't do this service for free anymore. I'd rather not go into detail on an internet forum but will gladly discuss offline with anyone who is curious about the reasoning. I did ask nicely and they will be packing my bike for me for a very fair price. Another great reason to support your local bike shops!!! Although I can do most of my own bike repairs and service there are the times when I either can't or just don't want to. It's good to have a shop within 15 minutes of my house that can and will help me out during those times.

Oh...I didn't know you meant do it for free. I won't even clean the cat box for free. I have to be offered breakfast or some similar 'payment'. Well, it is her f* cat?!?

Any Ideas for the manner of shipping? The last bike I sent cost me $90 at DHL.
I'd like to find a cheaper carrier for next time.

From the phone call with one particular shop, that's what I thought also. But with them not knowing who I was on the phone I can understand the comment.

The buyer works for Southwest Airlines so he will be flying into Dallas from Houston Saturday afternoon. I will meet him at the terminal, give him the bike, he'll check it in, then fly back to Houston. No shipping to deal with.

Some bike shops will ship them at just over their cost, last one I shipped it was $75 to Detroit from Grapevine/

Uline sells bike boxes new. I think they are about $15.

I shipped a frameset (alum frame, carbon fork, bars, stem, seatpost) for less than $20 with FedEx Ground. That's been my latest large shipping encounter.

fedex rules for larger shipments, and their hubs are open later and on weekends

if for some zany reason the deal doesn't go through I will totally take that cinelli off your hands

my understanding of RBM's policy is that it's a liability issue if the box is lost/damaged, not to mention they're helping people along with undercutting the sales floor
