I am so frustrated with this modernday warm winter at 60 degrees north. It is raining and snowing and mostly a bit above freezing and the fireroads are not for riding at the moment. We need some decent dry cold weather to get out. I only get to ride my bike to work and have serious withdrawal symptoms. Selfpity sucks!

You know, the "olden days" had warm winter days too :)
I was just thinking of such a post. Global warming man made or natural cycle, is the world even heating up. I don't care. All I know is that in the last 20 years the average winter temp in SW Ontario has gone up 3 degrees C. That is enough to go from lots of snow to freezing bloody rain in February. My DH, XC skis and snowshoes are just sitting there. We may not be able to hold our winter trout derby due to poor ice conditions. From the total lack of ice in January we could have just gone out in our boats. It's not even worth XC skiing unless it is -7C or less. Trails are either ice covered or mudholes. Usually both. I like riding on snow. With right conditions traction is excellent and overheating or dehydrating risk is less. Difficult to keep warm and dry in 1C rainy weather. -5C with snow is a good day.
