Looking to by a new tv soon as the old tube type tv is on its last legs (I think the Red isn't showing anymore). I was gonna wait to at least next football season cause I really don't watch much else besides movies, but the girlfriend expressed that she won't be happy with no TV.

So I'll get a new LCD tv and I want to mount it to the wall. But, I'm renting a share of a house right now, and I don't know how much long I'll be here, could be another month, could be 6. And its an old house, with plaster type walls that are a beotch to mount stuff in. Throw in a ridiculous sponge paint job by the previous owner, and repairing any mounting holes from a TV will probably be a pain. So I thought about getting some 2x4's (really 1.5" x 3.5"), squeeze them between the floor and the ceiling with nuts and bolts, kinda like a reverse clamp, so it'd be like this:

Currently, my big 26" TV is kinda in the corner near the radiator taking up lots of space. I'd get a table to put the LCD tv on but the space between my bed and the wall is kinda tight as it is.

What do you think? Stupid, bad, good, I dunno?

As long as you can get the 2x4s to be strongly held in place without damaging the floor or ceiling, I think that's a great solution.

Yeah that would probably work ... these new TV's are so light ... would most likely hold quite well.

just hang on them like a monkey before mounting the tv on there to make sure they will hold.
