fenders dont look cool, in fact they look awful. Wider tires look cool. you could try removing the reflectors, get a different handlebar\stem. I've always liked the look of black rims and black spokes, you could get a set of those.

disk brakes on a hardtail i think look total kickass for the most part. i have no idea what kind of bike you have or style of your riding. but the first thing i always do with a new bike is rip off reflectors and the plastic freewheel protector. as for making it look cool, just ride it hard so it has "battle wounds."

Fenders are a matter of opinion. What is cool to you. To me it is big tires and dc forks with 8 inch rotors and a girl sitting on top with only body armour...:D
One thing that never looks cool is to much decal. I love the clean lines of the bike with the odd touchup...having a bike look like the bottom of a skateboard is ugly.
Kona's are cool to begin with. Adding crap to make it look cool without adding real function makes you look like a poseur

I have been wondering about 8 inch rotors. Can I just buy them? will they fit on my disc brakes. mine are just the basic mechanical 555 from shimano. what are dc forks?? also more suggestions please

Anodized gold rims with green Ti spokes laced to gold Chris King hubs.
Change color of frame to gold with green ghost flames.
Green CK head set with a green stem and gold bars.
A gold seat post and a green seat with gold flake.
Then you will be PIMPIN'

Hey Slickster,
I second the Easton over the Kore stuff!
No one really notices an XT front derailleur.
Knee pads are knee pads, as long as they work.
If you really want to chi chi up your bike, get some nice cranks. Something like some Race Face cranks. And a cool chain guide, like the Evil (eThirteen) clear lexan one!
Stay AWAY from tires with colored sidewalls. I dunno, just don't like them.
BTW, I LIKE the way THE fenders look on a bike! Plus, they keep mud out of your eyes!

can you suggest a cool looking one for like 30 dollars or under. I like it when its metal(actual metal color)
I'm not trying to be a jerk but why are you worried about making your bike look cool? Who are you trying to impress. To me some of the best looking bikes out there look like they are ready to fall apart, to the point of barely even being able to tell what color/graphics they had on them. To me a cool bike looks ridden! The best way to do that is to get out there and ride it.
Other than that just try to keep a basic color pattern. Such as black components (including stem and seatpost).
Just my two pennies.

If u can... get the easton stem and bars... much better qulity and the logos rule :)
Dunno who it was that said about db's on ht's... SOrry :)
They're right.. It beefs a ht right up if u add discs
And a high travel fork... nothing huge cos it wrecks geometry... 100mm,105mm,110mm
Balcked rims and spokes give the Bike a "fast" Look.... also a good idea on how to make your bike look mean

Ride the bike. Don't just make it look tough - prove it to be tough!
Fenders can look damn sweet, i remember seeing a red Bighit here with a red THE front fender, looked REALLY damn nice.
Think it was bighitmaniac or someone.

my bike already has discs but I was wondering what the difference is with 8" discs. they wont fit with my regular disc brake caliper will they? does it just have to be adjusted or would i have to buy new disc brakes. also can someone explain chain guards. how do they work? you can still use the the 1st granny right? also what do those orange rollers do they look really cool.

What kind of bike do you ride?

2003 kona cinder cone. shimnano 555 disc brakes and marzocchi exr air fork(getting it upgrade to 100mm) xt derailur
I have to agree with LowCel, but if you really think that having a sexy bike will somehow make biking more fun and want to spend some money, get a custom paint job, just make sure its not an American flag. But that'll probably be more then $30.00.
The orange rollers are part of a chain guide, for DH/FR keeps the chain on when things get a bit hairy
I think EVIL bashrings look good too, also all black bikes are nice to me, probably the main reason i wanted the Giant XtC SE2

The most badass bike I've seen was a full rigid Redline with a rack on the back and red rims - the rider was boosting an 8ft drop at the time - that may have helped the aesthetics a bit

IMO, Fenders dont look cool at all. Sometimes I like bar ends sometimes I dont. Dual Water Bottle cages looks cool to me too.
Rename your thread "Help me turn my bike into a poseur ride" because without skills the new stuff is a waste
There are two things that make you kickass. First, how good you ride, whether that means you're fast, technical, or whatever. 2nd how much you love the sport. There is a 3rd also, your mechanical knowledge.
What your bike is, or what it looks like, has very little to do with being cool.
RaceFace and FSA and fenders are what I'd go with though, if I was insecure about my cyclisthood.

Dude, your alive...hows it going...??
I always find it funny how different everyones opinion is about bikes. Personally fenders aren't cool they are functional...but for straight up looks I hate water bottles on bikes, bar ends and especially frame mounted anything.

here you go, those other bars were goo, but as you know anything that is carbon fiber is cool
http://pricepoint.com/media/Answer_ProTaperCarbon.jpg
These knee/shin guards are much more comfy and stay in one place, and are unobtrusive when riding
http://pricepoint.com/media/661_NewRaceKneeShin.jpg
and last but certainly not least, you should invest in a cool helmet

I've been at school, and I haven't been on my bike too much lately. Trails are a little out of the way, and I've got some broken parts, and no money. Put the lime in the coconut and mix it all up, lol. I'm taking welding though, and I finish up in May, and job placement looks good. I'll be rippin up trails soon.
