Reckless drivers who endanger bicycle riders would pay fines of $150 -- $500 if there's a bike crash -- under a crackdown proposed Wednesday by Chicago's No. 1 cyclist. (Mayor Daley)



The infractions would invovle-
Doorings
Cars turn left in front cyclsits
Cars that pass within three feet bike

Unfortunately it will take a couple of first time incidents to bring this/these new items out ... and then people will hopefully talk about them, realize just shutting us down thinking we don't have rights ... will be an awakening for them.

However, hit someone in the wallet and you have their attention.

Wholeheartedly applaud this mayor and hope this "fine" will help us. If it takes putting a fine/increasing a fine out there to point out the fact that we (bicyclists) have rights to the road - well then bring 'em on.

Lately I'm getting screamed at (I commute busy city) by little kids - some who can barely talk :( - but the passenger window "rolls" down (by parent, or so) so a freakin 4-5 yr old can scream at me to "get on the sidewalk".

Nice.

Engrained too.

Does it travel in the DNA as well? :(


And is there a pill for that? I have a people I'd like to buy that pill for ...
