Heyduke
Hey Folks,
I'm a complete bicycle geek and very saddened by the recent passing of bicyle guru Sheldon Brown. I'm sure you've heard by now.
As saddening as his death is, I was thinking about having t-shirts screen printed locally (Manitou Springs, CO - his kind of place) in his honor. I have a couple favorite images of him that I think would make great t-shirts designs. THERE WILL BE NO PROFIT MADE IN THIS EFFORT, so I don't plan to make contributions to his family (although I'm not against it) or to any other cause such as MS...no disrespect. I simply want to be asked in public, "Who is that on your shirt," and be able to talk about Sheldon Brown. There may be some ethical question here about walking around with a picture of the deceased on your shirt, I understand that but in going with my gut, I don't think anyone will be offended. After all, his image is all over the internet and rightfully so.
Here's the rub: The set-up cost for an 8"x11" color print is $120.00 (gasp!) and the cost of the actual printing to a t-shirt is $9.00. Obviously, I'm not going to do that for one t-shirt. Are there any takers out there geeky and inspired enough by this man to join? If not interested or opposed to this idea, please contain any bombasts. I'd like to keep this positive. Likewise, if someone out there has a less expensive way to carry this out, please share! I've researched DIY screen printing and it looks like NO FUN.
Have a great day!
