Road Cycling - Jersey sizes: More or less the same?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. With the washing machine giving my left sleeve a thorough chewing I’m in the market for another jersey or two or three. I was wearing a Performance medium, and it seemed to fit fine except for the arm elastic was a little loose. The small was much too small though. Not wanting to pay $30+ for a shirt I’ve been looking on e-bay and have found some nice deals. So, if I bid on a medium from Voler should I expect the fit to be roughly the same as it is now?

Hard to say on some I wear a XXL others I am a XL. All depends. Maybe you could sneak into your LBS and try on a couple brands to see what fits.

I have a Voler club fit jersey and a performance jersey. The performance material is lighter, stretchy and larger. I'd probably order up one more size if your performance is not baggy on you. Also check to see what kind of fit the Voler has: club, european, etc.
If you start looking at European models or perhaps team jerseys, a bunch of the team jerseys actually have sizes to them, 3,4,5, etc rather than simply medium, small, large, etc. I got a CA jersey while in France and it's a size 4 but I usually buy a medium here. I am 130lbs 5'4", FYI.
But when you're talking general bike jerseys, I think most of them are generally similar, I guess if depends on how picky you are with jerseys...and if you're real picky, don't know why you'd buy a jersey without being able to try it on. :)

I have found that pretty much every brand of jersey will fit different than the last. I even have team jerseys that are the same brand that don't fit quite the same with the only difference being the year it was made.
My advice would be to ask for an armpit to armpit measurement on the jersey that's for sale and compare it to what you have now.

Team cuts, aero cuts, or Euro cuts (normally jerseys will indicate such) are about two sizes smaller than "regular" cuts.
On Trek's website, in the Trek Shop there is a fitting guide. Nike does their jerseys in an aero cut...as long as you know your chest size, you can look at their sizing chart to determine what to buy. Some bike shops (like the one I work in) have sizing guides for clothes and shoes (converting a 45 to a 10 1/2 for example).

It doesn't hurt to ask the seller for some critical measuremets, e.g., armpit to armpit, top of collar to bottom of shirt. Compare these to a good fitting jersey to determine if the one you are interested in bidding on is size appropriate.

Go to Voler's (http://www.velowear.com/) website and look at their size charts (http://www.velowear.com/Sizing_info.asp).
All my shorts and bibs and a few jerseys are from Voler. The size charts are very accurate.
I recently got an Exte-Ondo N2skin jersey and I can say
they are cut REALLY small, same with their bibs.
If you are getting Euro cut I'd say go 2 sizes up.

I looked at Voler's sizing chart and I couldn't really determine anything from it. My chest is about 35", I'm about 5'9", I weigh about 130lbs, and have a 29" waist. So it seems that in some sections I'm in the medium category, and others I'm in the small
Waist: 29”
Chest: 35”
Height: 5’9”
Weight 130lbs
My current jersey:
Armpit to Armpit: 19”
Cuff to Collar: 14”
Waist (measured flat): 17”
Collar to bottom: 27"
The current one is a little too loose fitting in my opinion, but as I mentioned the small was much too small.
Looking at the Euro sizes, it seems that either a 2 or 3 would fit. Eh, maybe I’ll just order one of each and hope for the best. Thanks for all your help.

I recently bought a couple of the BCM jerseys, made in Europe, on eBay for $30, each. I bought XXXL and find they are the same as U.S. sourced XL. They are a nice jersey with a longer zipper and seem to be of good quality. I have washed several times with no observeable effects.
Another good jersey is Kucharik. They have a website and I like their jersey the best of the 15, or so, jerseys I have worn over the past several years.
