View Full Version : I feel so dirty....
I feel so dirty..
I must confess I've been cheating on you. :o
Spending time over in the Mountain bike forum for a few days, and I noticed one thing!
The close/lock threads quick!! For what to me seems jovial banter.
So I go and post a thread called " CLosed Threads, A Lot Of them!"
Well, just a few post into what happens??
They not only close it, but DELETE it!!:eek:
I'm shocked, I must say shocked!!;)
So this is my formal confession, and if you'll have me back I swear I'll never
cheat on you again :)
no thats not my finger crossed behind my back...

Apparently there are crackdowns on several different forums. I keep missing the fun, just finding remains of threads discussing the crackdowns on threads that have been removed. Alas.

Every forum has it's own personality and purpose, eh? :) I'm glad that a forum like socal (where a decent percentage of people know each other really well) gives more latitude for informal banter.
On some other forums, I'm glad they are more tightly focused. I wish Road Cycling was a little tighter (or at least had an "ignore thread" option), because its signal to noise ratio is too daunting.

+1 on ignore thread option. That would be a great feature.

I'll just change my name and say I'm from San Berdoo..:D

Damn it, Drew. I got all excited that this was going to be a thread for that otherforum, but I was dee-nied. You can cheat on us, just don't tell us. Haven't you ever been to couples' therapy? :p

We'll tell the therapist how I cheated, and you'll let them know that it just not acceptable
how I cheat and then Deny you the pleasure!

Was this the emptybeer forum? You should really go to the forum for trail riders in Southern California.

Don't worry. I'm starting an E-zine that will feature 24/7 coverage ...a Who's Who of BF members
all the transcripts of deleted posts...
But you will have to pay for it...;) :)

Not true anymore. This is becoming the Unfun Forum.

Don't take it personally, Happy. Besides, I could have guessed that, and for what it was worth...I was winning the jello poll. :D

Were you? I went to the gym for a while and didn't see it taken down. Did I get at least some votes? I had better longer odds!

You had two votes, I had three, and we had a suggestion of making this a charity event. I think that's a great idea. We could host the Jello Shot Charity Ride. :D

Sigh...yes. I think it was my asking Happy, "What flavor?" That can imply many things you know and we can't have that!

No, Billy, you can go back to bed. The "Jello Shot" comment wasn't meant quite in the way it normally could be taken. ;)

Wonder if this (and the seemingly site wide crackdown) is the result of new corporate influences or if the new mods are just stricter than the old ones. It doesn't seem like people are surlier, cruder, whatever they were before. I could be wrong.
Whatever. Other fish to fry in life. I like to ride my bike.

Well...we may never get the whole, behind the scenes answer. But too many wars can bring a forum to it's knees...
I don't think anyone here wants that to ever happen.
So...
Do you like a little mystery?;)

I didn't log on early enough this morning and I completely missed the jello poll. When's the E-zine site coming up?

Yes I like mystery.
And on closing threads..
One of the threads I saw; someone pulled up a thread from 4 years ago, made one post and the
MOD say, "too old, locked"
If they didn't want folks to pull up old threads, why arn't they deleted after a certain age?
The one I put up had started had not a single cuss word, nobody was jabbed with a stick, no argueing,
very social, just closed. No reason at all that I could see.
The Mtb forum is a shell of its former self, but I do expect traffic on all BF sites to
pick up in the summer.
I must remember though, this is a privatey owned site, they can make whatever rules they like.
We either adjust to them, or stop using BF.
I hope the latter doesn't occur as I have really appreciated the social aspect of this site.
The whole thing could be the result of a few MOds run amuck, or the new owners letting everyone
know their take on social interaction.
Go figure....your guess is as good as mine, and probably better.
