This event is to honour Sheldon Brown (who died on Feb. 3rd 2007). The ride is free and open for anyone to join. It is scheduled for Sunday at 4pm, meeting on the Lamar Pedestrian Bridge. Be sure and wear your helmets with hood ornaments...

I will be there. I have long hair and will probably ride my blue Trek with reflective tape on the wheels if anyone would like to say hi. Wish it were under happier circumstances, but I can't think of a better way to honor his memory than to do what he and we love to do.

For anyone unsure about going, I imagine this will be a genuinely relaxed pace.

I think Sheldon would have been happy with the outcome. It was a beautiful day, we had lots of people and bikes covering just about every type and you could imagine. Roadies, Tandems, fixies, folders, classic cruisers, art, MTB...and probably more I can't remember right now. Traffic was actually really nice to us, nicer than normal for big group rides.

Nice longish leisurely ride.

I was out there on my single-speed 29er, filming and crashing, both as usual. I don't know if it was just the general vibe but that was the best group ride I'd been on in a while. Really good crowd, great pace and we covered quite a few miles before the day was over. Even got to do a few laps on a private track. Excellent ride, and one I'd like to think Sheldon would have loved to go on.

I wish I could have been there. I would have driven from Dallas for it. Unfortunately I didn't find out about his death until a couple of weeks ago. I was heart sick over it.

I had a beer and sat in the garage cleaning up both my old Raleighs as a small tribute. What an amazing fellow.
