Foo - HAHA!! I'm POISONING their minds!!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

At work I'm known as the one that is crazy over bikes. The one that was nuts enough to spend $$$$ on "just a bike". I guess with all of my excitement over feeling better and getting giddy over the warming weather it started to catch on.
My buddy had pulled his Raleigh hardtail out of the garage and started to eyeball it. He has been asking me lately about how to adjust the front der. I told him I could do it for him but we can never find a time where we would both be able to meet.
So yesterday I trapped him in the back of the warehouse and told him to call one of my favorite LBSs right then and there. He made an appt to get a tune up, since it has been a looooooooong time since he rode that thing.
He just called me. Not only did he get a full tune up, but he also got slime tubes, a helmet, gloves, and other things that I had mentioned might be useful to him. He took the bike from his house to work just to see how long it would take.
Looks like he will be commuting from now on. He is sooooo stoked about it!!! YAY!! *does happy dance*
So I guess I won't be the only "bike dork" around.
That's the second person this month I got into riding their bike more and commuting. :D

Yes, did you sign him up as a member? If not, you're a slacker and the job is only half done.

I told him about BF a long time ago. He asked me if there are club rides and all that. I have a feeling he will be joining soon. He asked me how much the donation was. :)

Very cool - now what you could do is put up a chart showing "Amount of gas saved while biking"
and "Number of donuts consumed as fuel..."
Very soon you might turn have the office!
MWAHAHAHAHAHAH!! Welcome fellow "deviate"! :D
I've been poisoning minds for some time now! When I do my shows for the club at festivals/outdoor expos - I will be talking the whole time, even have people stand in line to talk to me ... and I've had groups of people - mainly women stand around and listen as I talk about the different trails around - and describe with deails, about the best places to ride if they are not sure about traffic, etc ---- and I can see the poison set in and take effect by the fact that they start asking questions with more relevance -- I can see they've taken an interest. Even have people who come back the next year and report on their progress, tell me about a tour they might do, etc.
THAT makes doing those long grueling shows all worthwhile...

I've talked one gal into leaving her car behind - she's into the idea but to be honest, finding a place to put our bikes is going to be a problem. Her bike is rather long.

His bike is a going to be near where we keep our compost recycling and my bike will have to be hidden in the large walk in cooler. (The boss won't like it in there)
We have a bike rack outside but I've seen so many bikes with parts missing off of them that we refuse to leave them out there. Safest bet is inside the warehouse.
It's very discouraging.

If he is a big of a newb as you make him sound, you may want to teach him some basics of road riding just so he isn't going to be a danger to himself out there.

Actually that's a good suggestion, Operator. He and I are trying to find a day that we can meet and go on a nice paved trail for starters. :)
One thing he did that I flipped out over. He had the wheels drilled to accept schrader valves because he felt the prestas would be hard to deal with.
He's learning... I've have him feeling more secure in no time. ;)

They make grommits (both rubber and metal) to adapt them back to presta valves.

Thanks for the link, BR.
He rode his bike today and I must say, he sure is stoked about it. He's going to ask the boss if he can have the same days off as me so we can ride outside of work.

This is the thread I was trying to post in when foo took a holiday, it took me two days to figure it out. I had to ask a Mod. :) Now I went and forgot what I wanted to post, I suppose age is catching up with me.
Anyway, sure nice to have another rider on the road Siu, keep them coming. Yahooooo..
