I did answer truthfully.
Sure, back when I was a youngster I did all sorts of things that were horrible for me; including many illegal substances. Now, I'm smart enough to realize I'm not invincible, so I've quit that crap. (Even gave up cigarettes and booze.)

1. unlawful; illegitimate; illicit; unlicensed. Illegal, unlawful, illegitimate, illicit, criminal can all describe actions not in accord with law. Illegal refers most specifically to violations of statutes or, in organized athletics, codified rules: an illegal seizure of property; an illegal block (in football). Unlawful means not sanctioned by or according to law: an unlawful claim to the inheritance; to take unlawful advantage of the trading situation. Illegitimate means lacking legal or traditional right or rights: an illegitimate child; illegitimate use of privileged knowledge. Illicit, which originally meant simply “not permitted,” now most often applies to matters regulated by law with specific emphasis on the way things are carried out: illicit conversion of property; an illicit attempt to control the market. Criminal most often refers to violation of the statutes of penal as opposed to civil law. All felonies are criminal as are all crimes sometimes punishable by death such as murder, arson, and kidnapping: a criminal act.

I gave up smoking cigarettes like.. a while ago (for some months now at least). But in the time since I seem to have made up for it by consuming vastly greater quantity's of alcohol -- which I'm trying to cut out too. But quitting smoking was such a great thing, I could not go a day w/o having one -- they really had a grip, it's really good not to be under their control anymore. And I used to be addicted to womens - I did some regrettable things as a result. They're hard to quit man - I still miss mine. I leave her alone now, it's for the best. I think I quit smoking around the same time I gave her up FWIW.. and began greater consumption around the same time too.. weird.

sorry no.. I meant in your 'own' words.
I've been known to enjoy a little cannabis from time to time, but I don't now, as I'm on TV regularly for my job and people recognize me quite a bit. It's just not a risk I'm willing to take. The question is, would I admit it on here if I did still ocassionally do it? Probably not.

I smoked a little weed in high school.....wasn't that uncommon in the 80s. I almost got into heavier stuff, but managed to stop myself each time before I did. I stopped the weed about age 16 (over 20 years ago now).
About all I have now is a few drinks now and then.

The poll needs an option for "I enjoy them, but don't partake due to job-related concerns."

Unlike slick willy, I actually inhaled, got cotton mouth and a headache. Knowing my friends, they probably bought crap, but still, it was bad enough that I never went back.

Being old enough to have been a teenager in the early 70s, what do you think? But, I pretty much lost all desire decades ago - I really don't have much desire for the legal types either (like alcohol) anymore. Coffee on the otherhand is a requirement for my survival.

Is EPO illegal?
I quit seasoning my rides last September because my employer started "random" testing. So far no one has been tested. It seems that they'll only test someone if they get hurt on the job.
I do miss the pre-ride bong hits, but it's just not worth losing my job over it.

I quit them, but it wasn't for work and it wasn't because my pastor told me not to-I just got tired of them. I had some good times, and still think every sentient adult human should be able to take whatever they want, as long as they aren't hurting anyone else.
By the way, the stereotypical jobless pothead slacker and homeless junky are just that-stereotypes. There are plenty of functioning and successful citizens that use as a part of their daily lives and it doesn't turn them into Gollum. The world ain't TV, fks.
I've never tried anything illegal. Of the legal drugs, I've been into caffeine (quit when I was 14, not a trace since) and I used to drink alcohol (very moderate amounts) from about age 19 to 24. Quit that as well, and haven't had a drop since September 2003. Don't plan to resume it either.
My only "drug" now is sugar...

Don't let those numbers confuse you though. This is sort of a classic statistics misrepresentation. While 40% never have and never will, 60% have and 30% still do...

Lets see, my friends are pretty diverse from across this country. If I take the bunch I know well enough to trust, I would say 90% have 10% definitely have not (including pot)...of the 90% 80% of those still do, and 20% quit.
Ya I don't really believe the 40% either, but then again, maybe the "sub culture" is adverse to polls :)

Alcohol isn't illegal...so that doesn't apply here (well unless someone was a drunk during the prohibition :D). ;)

Well.. it should be. You know how many alcoholics they have in saudi? Thankfully none.. Can you imagine how much alcohol they could buy with all that oil? Jeesus, thank God the monarchs know what they're doing. for real.
Part of my five no's. No drinking, smoking, drugs, tattoos or piercings. I don't push my beliefs on others, just how I choose to live my life. Very un-metal to most considering my image.
Actually in some senses, its perfectly metal.
I can usually count the times I have a drink in a year on one hand, and not using binary notation either.
I don't care what other people do, but I don't smoke, drink, or do drugs either. Its just the way I am.

No, It's telling you that 40% of the people that answered the poll are not weak minded drones or better yet lemmings. "follow me and do as I do!" you either are a follower and give in to peer pressure or your a leader and don't. by the way, a leader leads his own life, not the life of others. :)

To me, no drug or substance is as awesome as creating a song, writing a story, or painting a picture.
With that said, purple kush comes very close. God is good.

ya because everyone who tries drugs did it because of peer pressure...

I don't like putting stuff like that in my body.

Interesting attitude and maybe the right one. I drink alcohol pretty much every night. 2-4 drinks. I'd probably smoke a bowl or two but that's illegal and just too much trouble for a respectable adult to acquire here.
I also do 1/2 and full ironmans. That means 2 a day training. Today was 1.5 miles swimming/35 miles on the bike. And this is a recovery week. Don't think a few drinks/drugs make that much difference. At least that's my attitude after 47 years. Maybe at 50 I'll be more mature, but I doubt it.
I do believe there a lot of people who just can't handle it, but that's more an addictive personality than anything.
