Since 1999, I own a blue touring model 24 V Lee Iacoca EV Global bike.
It has been a Godsend for me as I am handicapped. I try to use it
almost every day. If I get tired I can power home.
I have replaced the 2 12 v 12 amp batteries quite a few times over the
years with no problem.
Recently I replaced the batteries and the controller now is red not
green even after being on AC overnight. The batteries seem to have
good power on my last use. Yesterday I went about 6 miles and the
power was still on green. I don't want to get stuck with dead
batteries far from home.
With the old batteries before the battery swap the controller light
was a dull green after overnight and I didn't get much distance from
each charge, maybe 5-6 miles before the yellow went on.
I don't even own a voltmeter to check things out. I guess I could buy
one at the auto parts store.
I have the .pdf of both the owners manual and the service manual. The
SM details how to see if the batteries are bad or to check the
controller. I'm not sure I hear the fan when plugged into AC. I am not
technically inclined.
I wonder if a new controller is even available for these bikes? I
wrote to the http://www.ebike.co.uk/ (http://www.ebike.co.uk/) but have yet to receive a reply
on my inquiry if they can sell and ship to the USA a new controller.
I'm not even sure the controller on the bike is bad.
Can anyone offer me any advice?
Please if responding also cc me at roberttollen@gmail.com

i guess ya first step is go get a multimeter and charge batteries up again and see what it says, you can really tell whats going on until that is done

ps,you gotta start a process of elimination,it could even be as simple as a loose wire you wont know until you start testing so its hard to tell you what is really wrong until you do some test.could even be bad batteries who knows.

New batteries do that. Is the issue resolved?
