Hello everyone! After many years, maybe 30plus,I have returned to cycling.I started modestly last year on a borrowed Jamis mountain bike, that my son was not using.I quickly remembered the joy of riding, and the sore bum etc. and quickly bought a road bike,a Specialized Elite. The addiction has set in,and now I own an Orbea Onyx.I think i will stick with it...it pretty much is specked correctly for me,and i love the ride. Besides we all know its more about mileage than the bike!
I live in a ski area,Mont Tremblant ,Quebec, so I am becoming aclimatized to hills and rolling rides, which I prefer to flat land.I know i would enjoy the hills even more if I lost a few pounds, but at 62 it is not so easy.
I am happy to have found this site, and in the process maybe find a few local riders. If you come to Tremblant, contact me.
Nice to meet you all,Tony

Hello Tony, I too am fond of hills! It seems as if so many people dislike hills, but I would rather ride hills than flat land.

If you need encouragement, visit the Clydesdales/Athenas forum--they are a motivational group over there :D .

Welcome to BF!

HiTony,

Welcome to the forum. I live and ride mostly on the South Shore and up and down the St-Lawrence River. My return to cycling went pretty much the same way as you, perhaps without so many hills. Seven years later, and now 50, I lost 90lbs and am riding over 6,000km per year.

I'm pretty sure the results will show for you as well with time and perseverance. Do you plan to go to the Expodium Bike Show (www.expodium.ca) on 15-17 Feb at Place Bonaventure in Montreal?

Cheers,
Ron

More power to ya Mr. 62 sir!!!

Bicycling is such an awesome life satisfying thing. Do get more miles.

The bum, well, he/she adapts very nicely - and remember, you can always change your seat out, get fitted or get some different bike shorts too.

I am not a fan of a bad bum.

:D

Welcome aboard!

Thank you very much for the encouragement.I hope to ride 4000k this summer. As you know spring comes late in the mountains.I am encourqaging some of my friends to be riding partners..we'll see.If i get in enough training i will go on the Ottawa club Kingston ride....Ottawa to kingston one day, return the next...approx.160 k one way.Did it several times in my youth....definetly a challenge now.
