Just got back from a short and steady 15 mile ride along the coast in Falmouth, Maine. A little bit chilly to say the least, but the air was crisp, clean, and refreshing. This is the only third ride on my new 2002 Lemond Victoire and I'm enjoying every minute of it.

First thing, its extremely smooth. The bike stays very comfortable throught the duration of the rides. The frame is rigid but forgiving. You don't feel every nook and crany of the road. I'm able to look ahead with confidence without haing to worry about the road. Its a good feeling.

The bike accelerates nicely. With the addition of some new Shimano r600 pedals and Specialized Pro road shoes, the enegy transfer combination ended up being flawless. The pedals are a cinch to clip in and out of and the shoes fit me like a glove. I'm happy.

Now its time to get my lungs and legs back in shape again, like they used to be 5 years ago. I'm slowly getting back in the grove but its gonna take some time. Like everything else.

Looking forward to the 4th.

You'll get the legs back. That's what a buddy of mine said at the beginning of the summer when I was actually riding with fast guys. He was right. It will take time, but you'll get there.

Hi Zeego,
I live in Falmouth. Rte 88 is nice,
couple of good places to take a break in Yarmouth. A CBD and a Mr bagel, when it's hot the iced mocha at Mr bagel is great. Sounds like an awesome bike. Try this sometime, go to CBD (Coffee by Design) in Yarmiuth, have a break. Turn up the hill heading N. Turn right at the Stop sign nad go through Cumberland Center. Turn left onto Black Strap Rd, which you can ride back into Portland.
You can also go down Mountain Rd, which is fantastic for going down, and something I am still working up the courage to go up.

sounds like you've got the bike dailed in...my problem is that its so hard to find the time to get in a ride during the week. If I can get out once or twice on the weekdays, I feel pretty good on the bike. Getting the body in shape is like voting...ride early and ride often. Speaking of voting I did my duty and voted NO on the recall!
